GRWM: Getting that Flawless Base (Skincare)
Get ready with me, babes. This is how I get my flawless base for my makeup. I use #dermaplaning once a month to help add a smooth finishing touch when I apply makeup.
I have oily/dry combination skin, and the dryness can get bad if I do not follow a set routine on moisturizing my face, but it can also get too oily if I overdue it😭😭 SO basically, I have to be careful.
Hope you enjoy the routine that helps my skin.

Okay, babes, let's dive deeper into getting that truly flawless base, especially for us combination skin girlies! We all know the struggle: T-zone is an oil slick, but cheeks are dry and flaky. It’s like our skin can’t make up its mind! My routine helps, but I've learned a few extra tricks that make ALL the difference, especially when it comes to product choice and prepping for the perfect makeup look. One of the biggest game-changers for me was really understanding what ‘non-comedogenic’ means and why it’s so crucial. If you have combination skin, your pores are already working overtime in some areas. Using products that are non-comedogenic means they’re formulated not to clog your pores, which is essential for preventing breakouts and those pesky little bumps that can ruin an otherwise smooth base. I used to just grab whatever looked good, but now I always check for that label on my primers, foundations, and even my daily moisturizers. It’s made a massive difference in keeping my skin clear and ready for makeup. Beyond dermaplaning, which I swear by for physical exfoliation once a month, I’ve also explored other forms of gentle exfoliation. The term 'exfoliating acids' might sound scary, but don't worry! We're talking about things like alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) in gentle concentrations. These can work wonders by dissolving dead skin cells and clearing out pores, leading to an even smoother canvas. I personally love a very mild BHA toner a few times a week on my T-zone to keep oil and congestion at bay, while making sure my dry areas don't get over-exfoliated. It’s all about balance! Always introduce these slowly and patch test, of course. Another tip for anyone with combination skin aiming for that perfect makeup look is to really strategize your moisturizing. Since some areas are dry and others oily, a 'one size fits all' approach often doesn't work. I sometimes use a lighter, gel-based moisturizer on my T-zone and a richer cream on my cheeks. This ensures every part of my face gets what it needs without over-hydrating the oily parts or leaving the dry parts parched. This targeted approach creates a much more even and receptive base for foundation application. Finally, let's talk about prepping for the actual makeup look. Once my skincare is done and absorbed, I always use a primer. For combination skin, a mattifying primer on the T-zone and a hydrating or illuminating primer on the drier areas can be a dream team. This dual-priming technique helps your foundation glide on seamlessly, minimizes shine where you don't want it, and keeps your makeup looking fresh all day. Remember, your makeup can only look as good as the skin underneath, so investing time in your base skincare routine is truly the best beauty hack there is. Experiment, listen to your skin, and you'll find your own perfect recipe for a flawless base!
