Maas has a way of building intricate worlds and strong characters that truly hook you in, exploring themes of power, loyalty, and finding your place. Another one, 'Divine Rivals,' is a fantastic example of a romantic fantasy that I think many teenagers would adore. It has that emotional depth and adventurous plot that makes you forget you're even reading! When I'm looking for new books for teenagers, I often consider what kind of themes are explored. Are they about friendship, first love, navigating tough decisions, or discovering hidden powers? These are the stories that really stick with you. My pie chart showed Young Adult at 13.3% of my reading, but honestly, many books classified under fantasy or even thrillers could easily cross over and be perfect for teen readers. The appeal often lies in characters who are undergoing significant personal growth, facing challenges, and exploring their identities—experiences that deeply resonate during teenage years. Beyond specific genres, authors like Freida McFadden, known for her thrillers, also write fast-paced stories that can be incredibly engaging for young adults who love a good mystery. Her books often have twists and turns that keep you glued to the page, making them perfect for a quick, thrilling escape. The key is finding books that offer relatable characters and compelling plots, whether it's a heartwarming contemporary story or an action-packed fantasy epic. My advice for any teenager looking for their next read? Don't be afraid to explore! If you loved 'This Summer Will Be Different' or 'Just For The Summer,' maybe try other contemporary romances with similar vibes. If epic fantasy is your thing, dive deeper into authors like Sarah J Maas.
