2024 Reading Wrap Up 🎆

I read a total of 66 books this year! I didn’t quite meet my reading goal but I am giving myself grace because I ended up being super busy these last few months and didn’t have as much time to read.

Still 66 books is a ton and I ended up finding so many new favorites!!

LET ME KNOW YOUR TOP 3 BOOKS YOU READ THIS YEAR ⬇️⬇️⬇️

2025/1/1 Edited to

... Read moreAfter reflecting on my own 2024 reading journey, reading 66 books was definitely an adventure filled with unexpected turns and delightful discoveries! It got me thinking about how we all find those amazing reads that truly stick with us. If you're looking to boost your book count or just find your next obsession, here are a few things I've learned that might help. One of the biggest game-changers for me has been embracing different genres. While I absolutely adore a good Gothic Romance – seriously, titles like 'Belladonna,' 'Dowry of Blood,' and 'Hollow Heathens' were absolute standouts that pulled me into their dark, atmospheric worlds – I also made an effort to step outside my comfort zone. Sometimes, you stumble upon a book you didn't expect to love, like 'The Veiled Kingdom,' which surprised me with its intricate world-building and captivating story. Don't be afraid to pick up something completely different; you might just find a new favorite genre! Another tip is to pay attention to authors who consistently deliver. For example, I've really enjoyed diving into books by Keri Lake, with titles such as 'Anathema' and 'The Isle of Sin and Shadows' being particularly gripping. When you find an author whose style resonates with you, exploring their backlist can be a treasure trove of fantastic reads. It's like finding a trusted guide in the vast landscape of literature. Keeping track of your reads, even casually, can be incredibly motivating. Whether you use a dedicated app, a simple notebook, or even just a Goodreads account, seeing your progress adds a fun element to your reading journey. It helps you reflect on your year, identify patterns in your preferences, and even spot those books that didn't quite hit the mark (like that 2.5-star read, 'Sinfully Delicious,' which just wasn't for me, but that's okay!). It's all part of the experience. And speaking of recommendations, don't underestimate the power of your reading community! Asking for suggestions or sharing your own top picks, like 'Heartless Hunter' which left me speechless, or 'Magnolia Parks' which I'd re-read in a heartbeat, creates a wonderful exchange of ideas. I've found so many incredible books through friends and online groups. Books like 'The Bear and the Nightingale' or even classics I finally got around to, like 'The Graveyard Book,' often come from a trusted recommendation. Ultimately, reading should be an enjoyable escape. Don't stress too much about hitting a specific number or finishing every book you start. It’s about the journey and the stories that enrich your life. What are your go-to strategies for finding amazing books, or do you have any hidden gems from your own reading list you'd recommend?
