When visiting Xi’an, China, I was so impressed by how competitive the restaurant industry is! Everything is way above my expectations!
🍵 The moment you sit down, you have to “do as the locals do” — sip tea from a blue-and-white porcelain bowl. I wonder… if I drink tea this way, will I instantly become a true local of Chang’an? (Pic 2)

🎤 Mid-meal, an actor dressed in full emperor’s robes stepped onto the center stage and started performing a historical drama! Then another young man showcased kung fu tea pouring! The atmosphere was so immersive that the meal felt more like dinner and a cultural show. (Pic 3)

The “bristle” of the pastry is shaped exactly like a calligraphy brush tip, complete with realistic “hairs.” Each color represents a different flavor — the white one is durian, tasting just like a durian puff.

Not a large portion, and the deep-frying made it shrink even more. The outer crust is thick, and the meat a bit dry; dipping it into chili powder and other spices didn’t add much flavor. Surprisingly, the cold side dish — shredded spicy chicken with mung bean noodles — was more refreshing and flavorful.

A chance to try six different local dishes, all beautifully presented, with a strong sense of ceremony. However, the flavors were relatively mild — more like appetizers than main courses, so not entirely satisfying.

They say it’s made from Ningxia’s Tan sheep, skewered and grilled fresh. Each skewer has about 3–4 small pieces, lightly seasoned to let the natural lamb flavor shine. Juicy, tender, and perfectly grilled — spot on.

Light, crisp, and refreshing, paired with wood ear mushrooms. The perfect counterbalance to today’s heavier meat dishes.

🥜 As I was leaving, still thinking about those peanuts, I asked the server for another pack. To my surprise, she slipped me two! That warmth and hospitality left such a lasting impression.
