Hotel tips for Ban Rak Thai 🏞️

There are only a few hotels on Booking.com, while many beautiful ones show up on TikTok & Facebook. I chatted with some via Facebook, but they asked for full payment with no email confirmation — which made me uncomfortable. In the end, I chose to book through Booking.com and stayed at Cheng Fong Rak Thai Resort instead.

Cheng Fong Rak Thai Resort is a bit far from the main town and lake area. When choosing accommodation, you basically have two options: staying in a tea plantation or near the lake.

Keep expectations realistic — Ban Rak Thai is a small town. My hotel didn’t have a heater, nights were very cold, the water heater wasn’t very hot, and since it’s in a plantation area, there were quite a lot of ants and insects.

While walking around, I noticed some popular hotels from TikTok: Lee Wine Resort (very hard to book), Wojia Resortnear the lake but located uphill with stairs, and Nano Resort right by the lake with a nice morning view.

Ban rak thai have lots of small hotel and resorts, you might be able to walk in. Personally, I wouldn’t risk it after a 6-hour drive with lots of uphill roads without hotel booking.

Hope this helps anyone planning a trip to Ban Rak Thai 🤍

Ban Rak Thai Boat Trip
1/28 Edited to

... Read moreIf you're considering a visit to Ban Rak Thai, a small charming town surrounded by nature, it's important to plan your accommodation carefully. While many beautiful and appealing hotels pop up on social media platforms like TikTok and Facebook, I found that booking directly through these channels can be risky due to requests for full payment without email confirmation. To avoid any potential scams, I recommend using trusted platforms like Booking.com, even if the hotel options seem limited there. Choosing the right location is key. Ban Rak Thai offers two main accommodation types: hotels nestled within the tea plantations or those near the serene lake. Staying in the plantation gives you a peaceful wilderness experience, but be prepared for colder nights without heaters and the possibility of encountering ants and insects. Meanwhile, lakeside resorts provide beautiful views and a tranquil environment, though some, like Wojia Resort, have challenging uphill access with stairs. Popular hotels like Lee Wine Resort are well-known but booking can be difficult due to high demand. It's better to reserve well in advance rather than taking the risk after a long and potentially tiring 6-hour uphill drive. Also, keep your expectations realistic—Ban Rak Thai is a peaceful retreat, not a luxury city hotel destination. Lastly, packing essentials like warm clothing and insect repellent helped me enjoy the stay despite the chilly nights and natural surroundings. I hope these insights help you have a safe and memorable trip to Ban Rak Thai!
