PHYSICIANS ASSISTANT APPLICATION TIPS

If you’re considering applying to PA school, you’re in the right place!!! Here are some tips that I believe helped me stand out / are standard application tips

🩺 complete all pre-reqs (usually this is gen bio/chem, biochem, orgo, micro, psych, sociology, calculus, and school specific requirements

🩺 rack up your patient care experiences!!!! I genuinely think this has more weight than GPA plus it gives you more to talk about in your personal statement and interviews

🩺 GPA!!! You want to retake any classes lower than a C. Some programs require B and higher so double check. Most need a 3.0gpa but 3.5 is considered competitive. I know multiple people with lower gpas but high PCE

🩺 shadow a PA!! This is soooo important so the school can see you truly know what entails the profession

The list can go on and on!! Lmk if you have any questions

... Read moreApplying to PA school can be daunting, but with the right strategies, you can create a compelling application. Start by ensuring you complete all prerequisite courses, which typically include general biology, chemistry, and psychology. It's not just about your GPA; patient care experiences (PCE) are crucial and often weigh more heavily than academic performance. Many programs look for a competitive GPA—usually around 3.0, with 3.5 seen as highly competitive. If you've earned lower grades, retaking those courses is advisable. Additionally, shadowing a current Physician Assistant provides invaluable insights and demonstrates your commitment to the profession. Networking with the PA community and sharing your journey through online platforms can also enhance your application and open up new opportunities. Don't forget that a strong personal statement, which elaborates on your experiences and motivations, is vital in showcasing your unique profile to admissions committees. Remember, your application is not just a collection of grades; it's a narrative of your dedication, experiences, and passion for becoming a Physician Assistant. Engage with online forums and communities where you can ask questions, seek advice, and learn from those who have already navigated this path. Good luck on your journey to PA school!
