PA School Interview Tips

PA school interviews can be very daunting!!! Admissions has already read through your application and like what they see on paper, now they just need to see your personality and how you respond on the spot!

This is a personal preference but I honestly don’t think you need to spend hundreds on interview prep. Utilizing your resources is what worked best for me. By this I mean reach out to your friends, family, coworkers and ask them about their interviews or if they can ask you mock interview questions. Additionally there are tons of great mock interviews on YouTube which is also what I used!

If you have a group interview, my strongest recommendation is to always try to answer first. This way you get your thoughts out there before it gets taken, plus it shows initiative.

One of our questions was a debate style and there really was only one right answer. Thankfully I started talking right away and the other interviewees had to bounce off my answer. If I didn’t go first I feel like I wouldn’t have thought my answers were as strong!

Confidence is the main key queens and kings!!!

... Read morePreparing for a PA school interview can be intimidating, but there are effective strategies to boost your confidence and performance. Research the common types of questions that interviewers ask, such as ethical dilemmas and situational questions. Reviewing resources like textbooks or interview prep books can provide you with a solid foundation. Additionally, understanding the school's values and mission can help tailor your responses to align with what they’re looking for in a candidate. Practice is key to feeling more relaxed. Arranging multiple mock interviews with peers, mentors, or family members can simulate the interview environment and help you articulate your thoughts clearly. Online platforms also offer comprehensive guides and videos that can help demystify the interview process. In a group interview setting, it's crucial to assert yourself thoughtfully but respectfully. Make eye contact with the interviewers and maintain a positive body language to convey your enthusiasm. It’s often beneficial to listen actively to others while also ensuring your voice is heard. Remember to digest your responses and keep them concise, focusing on quality over quantity. Furthermore, embracing a mindset of curiosity about the field can lead to more genuine and engaging discussions during your interview. Familiarize yourself with current trends and relevant health policies affecting healthcare practices. By combining researched knowledge with personal stories about your motivation for pursuing a career as a Physician Assistant, you can create a compelling narrative that resonates well with the interview panel.
