... Read moreOkay, since you guys loved my initial food diary, I wanted to dive deeper into some of the amazing spots I found (and almost found!) on my Puerto Rico trip, especially as many of you asked about specific places. It's truly a foodie paradise!
First up, La Casita Blanca in Santurce. Seriously, this place lives up to the hype! My experience there was a solid 10/10. From the moment you walk in, it feels like visiting a beloved relative’s home—so charming and aesthetically pleasing. The service? Impeccable. The food? Chef's kiss! While my OCR didn't specify every dish, if you're looking for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, this is your spot. Many search for their mofongo, and while I didn't capture that specific dish, their traditional offerings are top-notch. Plus, they offer free valet parking, a huge bonus in Santurce! For a truly memorable, home-cooked style Puerto Rican meal, make a reservation here.
Then there’s La Parrilla in Luquillo, a fantastic choice if you’re heading towards the east coast or El Yunque. I rated it a 9/10, and it excels in fresh seafood and genuine Puerto Rican flavors. My experience confirmed their diverse and delicious seafood selection, and quick service meant I wasn't waiting forever to dig in. It's true it can be a bit on the pricier side, as the OCR notes, but for the quality and authentic experience, I felt it was worth it. Consider this for a celebratory dinner or if you just want to treat yourself to amazing seafood with a view!
Now, for my fellow Bad Bunny fans, I know many of you are curious about his connections to the food scene. While I didn't personally get to La Casita Blanca with him in mind, it’s interesting how many search for "Bad Bunny La Casita Blanca." It seems there might be some confusion, as my list actually included Lala (Bad Bunny co-owns) as a spot I wanted to visit but couldn't due to closures or wait times. If you’re a fan and looking for a trendy spot, Lala is the one to target! I’ve heard it’s quite the scene, so plan accordingly if you’re hoping to catch a vibe at his co-owned establishment.
Let's not forget some other unique places. La Casita De Rones in Old San Juan, for instance, offered such good vibes and drinks. It’s an 8/10 for me—great aesthetics and service, perfect for a lively evening. Just know that for a full, authentic Puerto Rican meal, their food menu might be limited. And for a truly old-school vibe and hearty breakfast, Las Alcapurias Quema in Santurce (9.5/10!) was fantastic with its natural juices, though it can get quite warm since it relies on fans.
Finally, a quick note on Casita Miramar. This was another one on my "must-visit" list that unfortunately didn't happen due to timing. Many people search for its exterior and outdoor dining. From what I’ve heard, it’s celebrated for its traditional Puerto Rican dishes and charming atmosphere, often located in a beautiful old house. If you have the chance, I’d definitely recommend trying to experience its legendary hospitality and cuisine.
Puerto Rico's culinary scene is so rich and varied. Whether you're craving authentic mofongo, fresh seafood, or just a great cocktail in a lively setting, there’s truly something for everyone. Don’t be afraid to try some of these local gems!
