Baby, where is my husband?’ Oh right… he’s an airline pilot. 😂✈️
Because most days I have no clue where he’s flying. ✈️
Except this time — I tracked him down mid-layover because apparently stalking counts as quality time. 😅✈️

Being a pilot wife is definitely an adventure, but not always the glamorous travel kind! People always ask... "Where's your husband flying today?" Honestly, my go-to answer is often, "Usually? No idea!" And that's the pilot wife truth for so many of us. We live by flight schedules, time zones, and the ever-present question of where in the world our loved one might be. It's not just about the mystery, though. There are unique challenges that come with this lifestyle. The loneliness can be real, especially during holidays or important family events he misses. Communication becomes an art form – trying to catch him during layovers, dealing with jet lag on both ends, and sometimes just sending a text into the void, hoping he sees it when he lands. We learn to be incredibly independent, managing the household, kids, and daily life solo for significant stretches. But it's also incredibly rewarding in its own way. We learn resilience, become masters of planning, and truly cherish the time we do have together. We get to hear incredible stories from around the globe and appreciate the sacrifices they make to keep us safe and connect the world. What helps me cope? I've found a few things that really make a difference. First, connecting with other pilot wives is a lifesaver. Sharing experiences, tips, and a good laugh with someone who truly gets it makes a huge difference. Second, I try to make our time together super intentional. Whether it’s a quiet dinner at home or a quick trip, we make every moment count. And sometimes, you just have to get a little creative to stay connected. Like that one time – as seen in the original post – when I decided enough was enough, and I was going to find out where's your husband flying today? I went full-on detective mode! It started with a hunch, a quick check of flight tracker apps (yes, we all have them!), and a little bit of luck. The thrill of figuring out his layover spot was almost as good as actually seeing him. When I finally walked into his hotel Room and surprised him, his face was priceless! It was completely worth the effort. For me, that spontaneous "stalking" (as I jokingly call it!) was actually a fun way to grab some unexpected quality time. Stalking complete. Pilot found. It’s just one of those funny, slightly crazy things we do to bridge the distance. It reminds us that even with all the miles between us, we're still deeply connected. Every pilot wife has her own stories of navigating this unique life, and mine often involve a dash of humor and a lot of love.
