Where to stay? 🏨

I highly recommend staying in the River North area.

I stayed at The Langham, and the location was super convenient — right by the Chicago River, within walking distance of the Magnificent Mile, iconic architecture, and tons of great restaurants. Perfect for a short city trip ✨

Chicago
5/2 Edited to

... Read moreIf you’re planning a short trip to Chicago, I highly recommend pacing your sightseeing to truly enjoy what the city has to offer. On Day 1, the Chicago Architecture Center Cruise is an exceptional introduction to the city’s rich architectural history. I found booking tickets in advance worthwhile to secure my spot on the popular 1.5-hour cruise along the Chicago River, which offers unparalleled views of landmark buildings. Following that, strolling the Chicago Riverwalk is perfect for photo ops and relaxing by the water. Don’t miss taking a closer look at Marina City’s unique towers when walking to Tribune Tower for some exterior architectural photography. Day 2’s highlights are perfect for art lovers and urban explorers. Spending 2.5 to 3 hours in the Art Institute’s Modern Wing offers a refreshing break indoors with world-class exhibits. Millennium Park’s Cloud Gate (“The Bean”) is ideal for a quick visit and iconic photos, and nearby 360 CHICAGO Observatory provides breathtaking panoramic views of the skyline with ticket prices starting at $30. Later, a walk around the Gold Coast District gives you a taste of Chicago’s historic residential charm. On Day 3, I suggest starting at Fulton Market District—an exciting spot for coffee and photography, especially early to beat the crowds. The 606 Elevated Trail is a hidden gem that offers a peaceful urban trail experience above the city streets. For nature and greenery, Lincoln Park Conservatory is a calming oasis in the city; remember to reserve your free admission in advance online. Ending your day at North Avenue Beach gives you stunning skyline views, with many dining options nearby in Chicago’s West Loop area for dinner. Accommodation in the River North area is ideal as it places you close to the river and many attractions, making walking or short rides easy. The Langham Hotel stands out for its comfort and location, combining luxury with accessibility. A pro tip to save on your trip: use trusted flight and hotel deal websites, as mentioned in the original plan, to find discounts effortlessly — it really helped me manage my budget without sacrificing experience. Chicago is a city layered with culture, food, and unforgettable sights, and this itinerary balances these perfectly for a memorable visit.
