Here is what I learned as I read proverbs 30-31: we will be starting Ecclesiastes soon.
Chapter 30:
• Every word of God is pure
• do not add to his word. Many people change or add to Gods word to fit their narrative. God will rebuke you for this & you will be called a liar
• (this generation) many believe they are perfect , but have not washed their sin. They believe they are superior and want to impress others. Many are mean, and mean words come out of their mouth.
• the ant stores up food for the summer. They are harvesting for when there is nothing
Chapter 31:
• don’t spend your energy on woman or anyone who like to destroy people
• The proverbs woman:
- her husband trusts her. She will not hurt him, or cheat on him. She is good to him.
- she’s a worker. She wakes up early and provides/cooks food for her family.
- she invests. She buys and she builds up wealth.
- she gives to the poor
- she has honor & strength. She laughs at the future because she knows she is secured
- her words are loving. She’s wise and she’s never lazy
- her children and husband praise her, they see she is blessed

Beyond the initial insights, I found myself reflecting deeply on how these ancient words can shape our lives today, especially when seeking to understand the Proverbs 31 woman.
From Proverbs 30, a verse that particularly stood out in my highlighted Bible page was, 'Every word of God is pure.' This truth became a powerful anchor for me, especially in a world where truth often feels subjective. It’s a beautiful reminder that our foundation should always be God’s unwavering word. My handwritten notes next to this verse emphasized the danger of adding to or altering scripture, urging me to approach it with humility and a desire to be taught. The observations about 'this generation,' particularly those pure in their own eyes but unwashed from sin, also served as a profound mirror, challenging me to look inward. And who can forget the wisdom of the ant? Such a simple creature teaching us about diligence, foresight, and preparing for the future – invaluable lessons for both our spiritual and practical lives.
Then, we transition to the inspiring Proverbs 31 Woman. While the original points are clear, I’ve been meditating on how to truly embrace these characteristics in my everyday life. Her husband’s trust in her speaks volumes about her integrity – it’s not just about faithfulness, but about being a consistent source of good, support, and encouragement. This is something I strive for daily, building that unwavering trust.
Her diligence as a worker goes beyond just managing a home; she’s a savvy planner and provider, actively contributing to her family’s well-being. For me, this means being a good steward of my time, talents, and resources, and finding creative ways to bless my household and community. It’s about being purposeful and proactive. The mention of her investing and building wealth highlights financial wisdom, not greed. It’s about responsible management and thoughtful planning for stability, a practical aspiration for us all.
Her generosity towards the poor and needy is a heartwarming characteristic that truly exemplifies compassion in action. It reminds me that our blessings are meant to be shared, extending kindness to those less fortunate. This is a characteristic that truly brings joy and purpose.
What truly inspires me is her strength and honor, allowing her to 'laugh at the future.' This isn't recklessness, but a deep-seated faith and confidence in God’s provision, giving her peace amidst uncertainty. Her words are loving, wise, and she’s never idle – these all flow from a heart that fears the Lord. As my handwritten summary on the Bible page noted, this reverence for God is the ultimate foundation for her praiseworthy life. It's a holistic picture of a woman striving for excellence, guided by faith, and leaving a lasting legacy. It's a powerful guide for how I want to grow.
