I start with the ordinary one when I get a pimple, then move onto the peach and Lilly one to soothe my face after the combo of these my pimple is almost always gone the very next day ❤️ the ordinary one leave on for like 10 mins the peach and lily one like 15, follow with your skin care. my face cleared up alot when I decided to start taking care of it's barrier, not just targeting my acne

... Read moreI know the struggle of waking up to a new breakout! My original post touched on my go-to two-step mask routine, but I want to dive a little deeper into why this combo works so well for me, especially focusing on The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque, which has been a game-changer. When I first started using a salicylic acid masque for blemish-prone skin, I was a bit hesitant. Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that excels at penetrating oil and exfoliating inside the pore. This means it's super effective at unclogging pores and reducing inflammation, which is key for acne treatment. The Ordinary's version, which comes in a convenient beige tube, is fantastic because it's potent but also budget-friendly, making it accessible for everyone. My personal tip for using this salicylic acid masque? Don't overdo it! While it's tempting to leave it on longer for better results, adhering to the recommended 10 minutes is crucial. Over-exfoliation can actually damage your skin barrier, leading to more breakouts and sensitivity – which is the opposite of what we want! I apply a thin, even layer to problem areas or my entire T-zone after cleansing. You might feel a slight tingle, which is normal, but if it burns, rinse it off immediately. Now, why the second step with a soothing wash-off jelly mask? This is where the magic truly happens for preventing irritation and supporting your skin barrier. After using a strong active like salicylic acid, your skin can feel a little stripped or sensitive. A hydrating and calming wash-off jelly mask, like the one with the lovely snail design I mentioned, helps replenish moisture, reduce redness, and soothe any potential irritation. Think of it as giving your skin a big, comforting hug after a deep clean. Ingredients often found in these soothing masks, like hyaluronic acid, cica, or even snail mucin, are fantastic for barrier repair and hydration. Integrating these into your routine is simple. I typically use this combo once or twice a week, depending on my skin's needs. On mask days, I cleanse, apply The Ordinary masque, rinse, then apply the soothing jelly mask, rinse, and follow with my regular toner, serum, and moisturizer. It’s important to remember that when you're using chemical exfoliants like salicylic acid, always be diligent with SPF during the day, as your skin can become more sun-sensitive. Before I focused on my skin barrier, I was constantly battling new breakouts. It felt like a never-ending cycle. But by supporting my skin's natural defenses with soothing and hydrating steps, alongside targeted acne treatment, my skin has become much more resilient and clear. It’s not just about zapping pimples; it’s about creating a healthy environment for your skin to thrive. Give it a try, and you might just find your own overnight success story!
