Okay but let’s talk about how switching to a Korean skincare routine really changed my skin 👀💛

Consistency > everything. It’s not about expensive products, it’s about layering the right steps and actually sticking to it.

Here’s the routine I’ve been using:

1️⃣ Oil Cleanser – melts makeup + dirt (don’t skip this!)

2️⃣ Water-Based Cleanser – deep cleans without stripping

3️⃣ Exfoliator – 2–3x a week for smoother skin

4️⃣ Toner – hydrates + preps your skin

5️⃣ Eye Cream – keeps under-eyes fresh & smooth

6️⃣ Serum/Essence – this is where the glow comes from ✨

7️⃣ Moisturizer – locks everything in

8️⃣ Sheet Mask – my self-care step (2–3x a week)

For example, starting with an oil cleanser in the evening is essential for safely removing makeup and impurities without stripping the skin. Following with a pH-balanced water-based cleanser ensures deep cleaning while preserving the skin’s barrier. I incorporated exfoliation 2 to 3 times a week using gentle chemical exfoliants like AHA or BHA, which target acne and promote cell turnover without irritation. This step is important for smoothing skin texture and preventing clogged pores but must be balanced to avoid over-exfoliation. Hydration played a central role in my healing process. Using a toner rich in hyaluronic acid not only balanced my skin’s pH but prepared it to absorb nutrients from the serum or essence. Korean skincare emphasizes fermented essences which penetrate deeply and contribute to that coveted glass-skin glow. I also paid attention to eye cream hydration, applying it gently around the delicate eye area to prevent dryness and fine lines. Moisturizing every day was non-negotiable for me, as hydrated skin reduces the risk of breakouts caused by dryness-triggered oil overproduction. Using sheet masks 2-3 times a week felt like a comforting self-care ritual that also boosted my skin’s moisture levels. One crucial tip I learned is to be patient—acne won’t clear overnight. Switching to gentle products rather than harsh treatments helped my skin heal gradually without flare-ups. I started slow, introducing one product at a time to monitor how my skin reacted. This skincare routine also fit my busy mom schedule perfectly—simple, effective steps rather than spending hours on complicated regimens. For anyone struggling with acne, I recommend focusing on hydration, gentle care, and a consistent routine tailored to your skin’s needs. Your skin really will thank you for the effort!
