I swear I can handle work stress, life problems

I swear I can handle work stress, life problems, budgeting — but the second someone asks “what do you want to eat?” I mentally shut down. Like, why is this such a hard question?? I don’t want to cook, I don’t want to spend money, I don’t want to eat the same thing again… but I also don’t know what I do want. And don’t even get me started on deciding for other people too. Suddenly I’m a chef, a nutritionist, and a mind reader.

Is anyone else completely drained by daily food decisions, or is that just me?

... Read moreDeciding what to eat every day is a common struggle for many adults. The mental load can be exhausting when faced with options like cooking, budgeting, and considering nutritional needs. Food decision fatigue is real, and it can drain your energy and enjoyment of meals. To combat this, try meal planning or prepping in advance to take the pressure off daily decisions. Having a list of go-to meals can streamline your choices. Consider designating specific themes for each day, like 'Meatless Monday' or 'Taco Tuesday', which can provide a structured approach to planning. Another approach is to involve family or friends in the decision-making process. By making it a group effort, it takes the burden off a single person and allows for creative ideas from everyone involved. Additionally, don't be afraid to embrace simplicity. Sometimes the most satisfying meals are the easiest to prepare. Focusing on balanced nutrition without overcomplicating the meal can help reduce stress. Lastly, remember to listen to your cravings and allow for flexibility. It's okay to change plans based on your mood or appetite that day. Often, allowing yourself grace in the decision-making process helps take the emotional weight off food choices, allowing them to become more enjoyable again.

Why is deciding what to eat every day so hard? Because it’s not just about food—it’s decision fatigue, too many options, emotional stress, and the effort it takes to cook (plus feeding everyone else!). By the time dinner rolls around, your brain is DONE. Totally normal to feel overwhelmed! 🍽️🧠

I’ve started some light ingredient/meal prepping on the weekends and it’s helped so much! I feel pretty apathetic towards food, which makes it hard to eat. Having stuff just prepared, sitting in my fridge for me makes it soooo much easier to just grab, heat, and eat.
