"Sometimes its the story we tell ourselves"

Sometimes a single moment becomes a story we carry for years.

A comment. A laugh. A reaction.

The moment is real.

But the belief that forms afterward can shape how we see ourselves long after the conversation ends.

Communication Wounds explores how communication experiences can influence confidence, participation, and self-belief.

Not to assign blame.

To understand the pattern.

... Read moreFrom my own experience, I've found that the stories we internalize from brief communication moments can deeply affect our confidence and willingness to engage in conversations or classes. For example, recalling a time when I shared an idea during a group discussion and faced laughter, I initially believed my ideas "weren't good enough." This belief lingered, causing me to avoid speaking up in future discussions. However, through self-reflection and seeking to understand the context rather than jumping to conclusions, I realized that the laughter was not necessarily a judgment of me personally but perhaps a reaction to the idea or moment. This shift in perspective was powerful and aligned with the principles in the TrueMirror series, which encourages separating facts from assumptions to heal communication wounds. By becoming aware of the pattern and questioning the automatic negative narratives we create, we can reclaim our voice and confidence. For instance, in my case, after recognizing the missing information and reconsidering the moment, I started to raise my hand again in class, feeling empowered that my thoughts were valuable. It’s a gradual process that requires practice but fosters healthier communication wellness and personal growth. This approach also emphasizes the importance of viewing these moments not as fixed judgments but as opportunities to understand interpersonal dynamics more clearly. Healing starts when we see the bigger picture, understand the impact of our beliefs, and choose new narratives that support rather than diminish our self-worth. Embracing this mindset encourages participation and opens pathways for better connections. In short, the TrueMirror method of awareness and reflection offers a helpful framework for transforming communication wounds into sources of strength and growth. If you’ve ever hesitated to speak due to a past interaction, I recommend exploring these ideas—the change in outlook can truly remake how you engage with others and yourself.

“We Tell Our Story.”👑
For too long, others tried to define us. So we picked up the pen. We tell our stories through our art. Through our families. Through our discipline. Through our resilience. Not to argue. Not to beg. But to remind the world — and ourselves. We belong. We matter. We are not going anywhere.
