Part 2 of Scam in this app

2025/10/30 Edited to

... Read moreHey everyone, I've seen a lot of you searching about 'public agent' scams, and it really hits home because I've had my own close calls with online tricksters. It’s scary how sophisticated these scammers can be, often pretending to be someone trustworthy to gain your empathy and money. When we talk about 'public agent' in the context of scams, it’s rarely about someone genuinely working for the government. Instead, it’s often about scammers impersonating people who appear to be agents of goodwill, like charity workers, aid providers, or even religious figures who claim to be 'God fearing.' They create these elaborate backstories to make you drop your guard. For instance, I've heard stories, similar to the one shared in this article, where someone claims to be a 'single mom' facing hardship in a distant country like Cameroon, desperately needing a small amount, say $100, for basic necessities or to travel. They might promise you a share of a future fortune or a 'charity act' reward, making it sound like a small investment for a huge return. Here are some massive red flags I've learned to watch out for: Urgent Money Requests: Scammers always create a sense of urgency. They need money now for an emergency – a plane ticket, food, medical bills. Legitimate organizations or individuals rarely ask for money from strangers this way. Emotional Manipulation: They'll tug at your heartstrings. Claims of being a 'single mom,' facing dire circumstances, or needing help for their children are common. They portray themselves as vulnerable but trustworthy, often using phrases like 'God fearing' to appear sincere. Promises of Wealth: If someone you barely know promises you millions through a 'charity act' or some other vague investment, it's almost certainly a scam. True wealth or charity doesn't work that way. Moving Off-Platform: A huge red flag is when they immediately try to move your conversation off the platform where you met (like a social app) to private messaging apps like Zangi, iMessage, or Telegram. They do this to avoid detection by the platform's security measures and to have more control over the conversation. Vague Details & Inconsistencies: Pay attention to their stories. Do the details add up? Do they avoid specific questions about their identity or the 'charity act'? Pressure to Act Quickly: They'll pressure you to send money without giving you time to think or verify. So, how do you protect yourself from these 'public agent' impersonators? Verify Everything: If someone claims to be from a charity or a public organization, independently verify their identity and the organization's legitimacy. Don't use contact information they provide; find official contact details. Never Send Money to Strangers: This is the golden rule. No matter how convincing or heartbreaking their story, do not send money to people you've only met online. Trust Your Gut: If something feels off, it probably is. Don't ignore that feeling. Keep Conversations on Platform: Stick to the platform where you initially connected. If they insist on moving to another app, consider it a major warning sign. Report and Block: If you suspect a scammer, report them to the platform immediately and block all communication. Staying vigilant online is crucial. These scammers are skilled at preying on kindness and empathy. By being aware of their tactics and knowing the red flags, we can protect ourselves and others from falling into their traps. Remember, real 'public agents' or charity workers won't ask for money directly from individuals in such a manner, especially with promises of unrealistic returns.

BUY OR BYE at Dollar Tree - what is worth your money? 🤔 I went through the store and I checked to see if some items were truly a good deal. Shockingly, most were not! Dollar tree does have tons of good deals and finds, but you have to watch, mostly with the Dollar Tree Plus items (items over $1.
