Any plans to visit nyc❓5 days itinerary 👇

Day 1: (~1 hr from Manhattan)

Douglaston, Queens

(Douglaston Station, LIRR Port Washington Branch) -

2nd to Easternmost station in NYC, on the fringes of Queens, home to small neighborhood cemeteries with graves dating back to the 1800’s and serene greenery, next to large age-old homes. The train station, set against an almost rustic- Scandinavian backdrop, is just steps away from one of the best delis in the city, Douglaston Deli. This community will definitely make you forget where you were when you started your journey.

Day 2: (~1 hr from Manhattan)

Woodlawn Heights, The Bronx

(Woodlawn Station, Metro-North Harlem Line) -

2nd to Northernmost Metro-North station in NYC, just before the northern border of The Bronx lies Woodlawn Heights and north of the massive Woodlawn Cemetery , the Irish heart of NYC, home to Irish pubs, Irish people, and Irish food. So far north that the emergency services are volunteer and old-school neighborhood buttons exist to call them. This is probably one of the most surreal experiences I have had in NYC being surrounded by so many Irish people, watching Irish football and being served Irish food by an Irish bartender at the Irish Milligan’s Pub.

Day 3: (~1 1/2 hrs from Manhattan)

Rockaway Park, Queens

(Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St, A Train & Rockaway Park Shuttle) -

Located on the distant Rockaway peninsula, separated from the rest of the city by the Jamaica Bay and facing the Atlantic Ocean on the opposite side. This quaint, walkable neighborhood, in the central portion of the peninsula is a stark dividing line from the urban western portion and the suburban eastern portion that you can see in its tall apartment buildings only a street away from mom and pop, rustic beach shops and the longest boardwalk in America to top it all off and it is a perfect place for a date, a run, or just a nice rest after work.

Day 4: (~1 1/2 hrs from Manhattan)

City Island, the Bronx

(Pelham Bay Park Station, 6 Train to Bruckner Blvd/Wilkinson Ave Stop, Bx29 Bus) -

Past the 6 Train, of the coast of the mainland, resting in the Pelham Bay, it’s only island neighbor being the city’s Potter’s Field, Hart Island, lies City Island, a small nautical fishing community with a New England feel that somehow feels almost frozen in time, residents sit on store front and chat and fishermen relax on their boats in the harbor as families enjoy seafood in the sun on hot summer days before heading to Orchard Beach, nearby. It is almost a miracle that the city has retained such a distinct culture and charm, most likely due to it being disconnected from the subway system.

Day 5: (~1 1/2 hrs from Manhattan)

College Point , Queens

(Flushing Main-St Station, 7 Train & Flushing Main Street Station, LIRR Port Washington Branch to 127 St/11 Ave Stop, Q25 Bus) -

Across the water from Manhattan, home to construction sites where workers eat their lunch overlooking the Manhattan skyline and drive their bulldozers down the waterfront backroads, old one-story homes dot the streets and a hometown feel makes you wonder as if you’re still in NYC as you visit Donna Delia’s for some of the best pizza in NYC with an awesome bathroom that I’ll save for the ones who decide to visit.
