美食 @ 兀里村小贩中心 Woodleigh Village Hawker Centre

Went to dine at Woodleigh Village Hawker Centre. There are quite a few stalls which kind of tempted me to move towards them and order the foods. Tried the following food stalls:

1) Penang Man 槟城人

I was asking the stall lady for recommendation and ordered their Penang Prawn Mee (Dry) 槟城虾面 $5.50.

The main seasoning of tasty black soya sauce, sesame oil, pepper and belachan chilli is fragrant and delish. There is no pork lard which I prefer.

They are using the type of small prawns without shells, with other ingredients of kang kong, beansprouts, sliced meat, half braised egg and fish cakes.

Bee hoon cum yellow noodle portion is adequate for me.

For the prawn base soup, I only drank 2 sips as usually I find the prawn broth is rich but salty.

There are other options of Pork Ribs Prawn Noodle 排骨虾面 $7.00/$7.50, Penang Assam Laksa 槟城亚叁叻沙 $6.00, Penang Braised Noodle 槟城卤面 $3.20, Penang Hokkien Lor Mee 槟城福建卤面 $5.00, Penang Char Kway Tiao 槟城炒粿条 $6.00/$8.00, Prawn Noodle w/ Pig's Tail 猪尾虾面 $7.00/$7.50.

2) Liu Kou Shui 刘🐷水

An interesting cutie stall name sells Japanese Ricebowls.

I ordered the Caramelised Char Siew Don 日式焦糖叉烧盖饭 $7.00.

Came across for the first time, the umami sweetness of burnt caramel's coating on the pork belly is extremely flavourful, the meat is also tender, juicy and a big slice portion.

Tastes yummy with the onsen egg and rice.

There are a variety of Ricebowl options such as Salted Egg Chicken Don $6.00, Pork-Buri Don $7.00, Pan-Fried Salmon Don $8.00, Grilled Chicken Don $6.00, Unagi Don $9.00, Mentaiko Chicken Katsu Don $7.00, Pork Shogayaki Don $7.00, Green Chilli Chicken Don $6.00, Angus Beef Sukiyaki Don and Beef Sukiyaki Don $8.00.

I also tried one of their Snacks ~ Fried King Oyster Mushroom $4.50 with the 赞👍 good sign. The interior juicy mushroom with the exterior golden brown salted black peppery fried crisp is savory.

3) Tian Tian You Yu 天天有鱼

Wanna try the fish so I ordered the Teochew Steamed Fish Slice 潮州蒸鱼肉 $7.50.

Though it is not the type of Batam fish I fancy, the meat is fresh and of bigger slices, The soup base is pleasantly tangy with the pickled vegetables, sour plum and tomatoes.

I like the Braised Pork Rice 卤肉饭 $2.00, the minced pork belly and the braised sauce on the rice is tasty.
