For the longest time, I struggled with feeling inadequate because I didn’t fit into the conventional idea of beauty pushed by media and society, especially the obsession with being a size zero. But then I came across this powerful message attributed to Marilyn Monroe: "To all the girls that think you're fat because you're not a size zero, you're the beautiful one, it's society who's ugly." This helped me realize that the problem isn’t with our bodies but with narrow, unrealistic beauty standards that society imposes. Choosing to embrace my natural shape, I felt a gradual but profound shift towards self-acceptance and happiness. It’s important to remember that beauty is diverse—being healthy and confident matters more than fitting any arbitrary size. For anyone feeling disheartened, know you’re not alone. Many of us have been there, feeling pressure and pain over our appearance. What helped me was focusing on what makes me feel good: wearing clothes I love, practicing positive self-talk, and engaging in activities that build my confidence, like exercising for strength, not punishment. If you’re struggling with body image, try to challenge those old beliefs and remind yourself that your worth isn’t measured by a number on a tag. Society’s definition of beauty is just one story, but there are countless others—you get to write yours. Ultimately, loving yourself is revolutionary, and it’s something that no one can take away from you.
