MOM HOT TAKE: kids don’t ruin your body.

our bodies go through crazy changes when we’re pregnant! and it’s TRULY so amazing! society tells us that we HAVE to bounce back. but if you’re like me, i just want to be healthy physically for my children and not be lazy and just accept my body after birth. i want to look good for myself. and i want to be able to feel good the way i desire, for MYSELF.

but i will never blame my kids for my body. i’m responsible for what i eat and how disciplined i am when it comes to the gym.

🤰🏽biology vs. lifestyle

pregnancy naturally changes your body with stretch marks, wider hips, and looser skin. but those are structural and natural, not ruined.

long term weight gain, sluggishness, and low energy usually come from lifestyle habits such as your diet, activity and sleep. not the baby itself.

🤰🏽postpartum recovery is possible

many women rebuild strength, tone, and energy after kids through movement, nutrition, and consistency. your body is adaptable, it recovers when given the right tools like exercise, hydration and a balanced diet.

🥗nutrition is the biggest factor

consistent junk food, sugar, and processed meals will impact your health and body more than pregnancy did. poor eating habits often creep in during motherhood: fast, convenient foods. but that’s a choice, that’s NOT the baby’s fault.

🥊discipline determines the outcome

sticking to movement, mindful eating, and routines requires discipline. kids don’t remove your ability to make those choices, lack of discipline does.

🌎proof is everywhere

plenty of moms bounce back stronger and healthier post kids because they stayed disciplined. and the ones who blame their kids, usually overlook lifestyle habits that compound over years.

... Read moreAs a mom, I totally get it. After birth, it felt like my body wasn't entirely my own anymore. I remember looking in the mirror, sometimes feeling disconnected, and seeing articles everywhere about 'bouncing back' instantly. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking our kids somehow 'ruined' our bodies, especially with the exhaustion and demands of motherhood. But through my own journey, I’ve realized that while pregnancy brings amazing, natural changes like stretch marks or wider hips, it's our daily choices and habits that truly shape how we feel and look long-term. The idea that 'junk food and no discipline do' play a bigger role really hit home for me. It's not about being perfect, but about conscious effort. For nutrition, I found that small, consistent changes made a huge difference. Instead of reaching for processed snacks when exhausted, I started prepping healthy options like pre-cut veggies, fruit, and hard-boiled eggs. Hydration became my secret weapon – simply drinking more water helped with energy and reduced cravings. I also learned to be mindful about why I was eating; sometimes, I was just tired, not hungry. When it came to movement, I started incredibly slow. Forget intense workouts immediately after birth! My focus was on rebuilding my core gently and walking. Even short walks with the stroller became my 'me time' and a way to gradually increase activity. I found online resources for postpartum-safe exercises, focusing on strength and feeling capable, rather than just burning calories. It's about building a body that serves you, one that has the energy to chase after your little ones and makes you feel strong. The discipline isn't about punishment; it's about self-respect and investing in your own well-being. And honestly, the biggest shift for me was in perspective. Instead of trying to 'bounce back' to my pre-baby body, I started embracing my new body. My stretch marks are a roadmap of an incredible journey, and my wider hips are a testament to my power. This mindset shift is what truly brings confidence. When you appreciate what your body has done and what it can still do, that inner glow genuinely makes you feel 'hot' and ready for that full-body mirror selfie. It's not about perfection; it's about celebrating your strength, resilience, and beauty in this new chapter. Don't forget the power of small self-care acts. A comfortable, well-fitting outfit can boost your mood. Taking 10 minutes for yourself, whether it's for a quick stretch or just a quiet cup of tea, can hugely impact your mental energy. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and every small step toward taking care of yourself is a win. You deserve to feel amazing, inside and out!

Agreed. Also,I at least don’t really want to completely bounce back after. If I gain an unhealthy amount of weight or something then yeah I’ll work to lose it but I don’t want the same body back after bc it’s not meant to and I don’t mind having my body show that I’ve brought life into this world. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to bounce back either as long as you’re doing it for you and your own mental health and things and not just bc society says you should esp bc society’s view of beauty is so shallow and finicky (always changing) anyway
