i was raised by a single mom who taught me that i HAD to be independent and to NEVER rely on a man.
but being in my marriage i’ve learned that there’s a huge difference. and when you find the right man, he WANTS to take care of his wife and his children. and it’s not a bad thing to be dependent. especially as a SAHM i’m fully dependent on my husband and we love it!
even if it’s a typical tradition, i don’t think it’s a bad thing.
1. teach interdependence, not dependence
she shouldn’t rely on a man to survive financially, emotionally, or socially. but she should learn how to build relationships where two people support each other. it’s important to learn how to lean on one another. yes you should teach your daughters how to make their own money, solve their own problems, etc! from that foundation, she can choose a partner and not NEED one.

3. avoid the “I don’t need anyone ever” trap
a lot of girls are raised to be so hyper-independent (like me) that they can’t accept help, support, or love. balance is healthier than extremes.
