My puddin’
Tonight looked different.
Sir Brisket wasn’t his usual playful, bouncing self…
He was quiet. Tender. Slower than normal.
One of his little fangs came out…
and you could tell his body was trying to adjust to something new breaking through.
So I did what came naturally…
I held him.
Rocked him.
Stayed still long enough for him to feel safe again.
No rushing.
No fixing.
Just presence.
Because sometimes growth looks like discomfort.
Even when it’s necessary… it still hurts.
And sometimes strength doesn’t look like pushing through…
It looks like being held while you do.
He fell asleep in my arms.
And in that moment, I realized…
Even the ones who bring us joy need softness too.
