He says all he wants is peace at home.
But apparently, asking him to pick up his socks, help with the dishes or take responsibility for the household is disturbing his peace.
Here’s what I find interesting.
Why do some men see providing financially as their responsibility, but consider everything else a woman’s job?
And why do so many capable women end up managing the household, remembering everything, reminding their partners and then being accused of nagging?
I’ve seen women who are successful in their careers become exhausted trying to manage a grown man at home.
And here’s the relationship blind spot many women don’t recognise.
Sometimes what a man calls peace is actually a relationship where nobody expects him to be accountable.
But there’s another question I want women to consider.
Why do some women continue accepting this arrangement, even when they know they’re unhappy?
Why do they keep explaining, compensating and hoping he’ll eventually become the partner they wanted?
The answer may involve a relationship pattern they haven’t recognised in themselves.
And recognising that pattern can change how they choose a partner.
📖 In my book The End of Self-Abandonment, I explore why capable women sometimes take on responsibilities that were never meant to be theirs alone, and why they struggle to stop.
