Chuen, Ho, Manik
As the gears in the cosmic calendar turn and churn the fabric of time and space, we move into the Chuen Day sign. As the universe’s mechanism causes our Sun 🌞 to rise, we transition into Ho, the 5th day and night of this Manik’ Trecena (13-day cycle).
In Maya cosmology, Chuen is the divine monkey, the trickster-artist, the master of play and creation. Chuen embodies spontaneity, humor, cleverness, and the raw magic of the creative process. It is the energy of art that heals, jokes that reveal truth, and improvisation that opens new paths. This is not foolishness. It is sacred play. Chuen teaches that joy and curiosity are vital parts of the spiritual path.
This day sign governs creativity, performance, expression, and mischief. Chuen reminds us that some truths can only be reached when we let go of control. Its medicine comes through the unexpected—surprising conversations, bursts of inspiration, or moments where laughter breaks open the heart. Are we allowing joy to teach us? Are we making space for expression, or stifling it in the name of seriousness?
Chuen is associated with the West and the color blue. Today’s Nahual is the Monkey, whose energy invites movement, wit, and a touch of chaos. Monkey sees what others miss, dances through contradiction, and isn’t afraid to get messy. Its lesson: the divine does not require perfection. It requires participation.
Ho / Job
The Number Five
Known as Ho in Yucatec and Job in K’iche’, the number Five represents power and agency. It is the hand in motion, the sacred ability to act, influence, and create. Five brings the force of will into the world and often speaks to the energy of initiation or disruption. In Maya numerology, Ho carries the potential for impact—but also asks for discipline, lest our actions become erratic or impulsive.
Five is the activator. It charges us with responsibility. Those born under this tone often feel the need to act, to shift things, to move forward. But Ho also warns: action without purpose is noise. What are we choosing to direct our energy toward today?
Guardian of the 5th Day
The deity associated with Ho (5) is Tlacolteotl, the Nahua goddess of purification, confession, and transformation through release. Often misunderstood, she embodies the power to consume corruption and transmute it into fertility and clarity. She is both the eater of sin and the one who cleanses the soul. Tlacolteotl reminds us that healing often requires honest confrontation with the mess, and that there is no shame in the process of becoming clean.
Within the Manik’ trecena, Tlacolteotl amplifies the message of healing through expression. She invites us to bring our shadows into the light—not to be judged, but to be reclaimed. Whether through art, words, movement, or truth-telling, she clears the path so new life can grow.
The cosmic date is Ho (5), the day sign is Chuen, within the Manik’ trecena. In Gregorian terms, this corresponds to June 7, 2025.
Again I ask: What would the OG Daykeepers advise today as the energies of the Manik’ trecena intertwine with the sacred play of Chuen and the activating force of the Ho tone?
Today’s convergence of Chuen, Ho, and the Manik’ trecena invites us to take action through joy. Not joy as escape, but joy as medicine. Have we forgotten how to laugh? Have we silenced our creativity in favor of productivity? Are we hiding truths that want to be released?
Chuen reminds us that humor is holy. Ho tells us to move. Tlazolteotl asks us to express what we’ve been ashamed to say out loud. This isn’t the day to be rigid. It’s the day to make music out of the mess, to write the thing you were afraid to write, to say what needs saying. To cry, to dance, to laugh, to cleanse.
If you’ve been holding it all in, let it out. The monkey doesn’t care how it looks—only that it’s real. The healer in you doesn’t need to fix everything today. Just open the channel. Let spirit flow.
The Tzolk’in is not always solemn. It is also wildly alive. Pick up the drum. Sing your name. Tell the truth. Be free.
Reflection of the Day
Spiritual work—what exactly is that?
Everyone's got a different take. For some, it’s therapy and journaling. For others, it’s ceremony, sweat lodges, or fasting. Some folks say the most important part of a psychedelic experience is the integration that follows. And hey, that sounds nice... responsible even. But let’s be honest, sometimes that sounds more like the sales pitch of a therapist than a truth rooted in lived experience.
That said, I do believe integration and spiritual work matter deeply. I also know what life feels like without them. I spent years without a shred of spiritual practice. No prayer. No discipline. Just music, psychedelics and dancing. But raving was the closest thing I had to church. Psychedelics and music cracked something open in me—something ancient, something cosmic. They didn’t just show me who I was… they reminded me of where I came from and gave me a glimpse of where I was going.
But let’s talk about the heavy side.
I once took a decent dose of psilocybin and made contact with my great-grandmother. It was beautiful—and brutal all in one. In that space, I got it in my head that I could purge for the world. Noble? Maybe. Naive? Absolutely. It became the single most difficult thing I’ve ever done. I was purging for what felt like lifetimes. Behind me, It's almost as though some of my ancestors were standing behind me. And if it were so, some were laughing, saying, “Look at this dumbass trying to purge for the planet.” Others were curious: “Let him try. Let’s see how far he goes.”
And I kept going. Until I couldn’t anymore.
I remember putting my hand behind me and whispering, “I can’t do this.”
That’s when the lesson came in loud and clear:
“Good. You’re not supposed to do it alone.”
Medicine Grizzly Bear Lake-Thom speaks about ceremonial healing of the Earth in his writings. He emphasizes that the Earth is not just a backdrop to our lives but a living, conscious being in need of respect, balance, and direct spiritual care.
In his teachings, healing the Earth isn’t metaphorical, it’s literal. He writes about conducting ceremonies specifically for the Earth’s restoration, where offerings, prayers, songs, and the guidance of ancestral spirits come together to realign the disharmony created by human actions. These ceremonies are not separate from personal healing but deeply interconnected. When we heal ourselves, we contribute to the Earth’s healing. When we pray for the Earth, we are simultaneously acknowledging our place within the sacred web of life.
He also speaks to how spiritual warriors, those committed to walking with integrity, humility, and connection to the sacred, have a responsibility to do this work. This includes fasting, vision quests, sweat lodges, and other practices rooted in Indigenous lifeways, not as rituals of performance but as genuine medicine for the land.
Lake-Thom is very clear: ceremony is not symbolic, it is functional. It changes things. And in a world where the Earth is sick from toxins, war, and spiritual neglect, these ceremonies are not optional, they are necessary. He writes with urgency but also hope, reminding us that Indigenous knowledge and ceremony still carry the power to restore what has been broken.
Just imagine if I had never taken those ancestral mushrooms. Looking back at that trip, I know that what I was doing was trying by myself to heal the earth. This is exactly what Lake-Thom writes about. I met Lake-Thom through books, I only looked for these kinds of books after these kinds of trips. Yes, it was a difficult experience to try to purge for the earth by myself.
That moment humbled me. And it brought me home.
It led me to the Tzolk’in, to daily prayers, to fire ceremonies, and to a path I now walk, sober and tripping at the same time. Because here's the truth: I don’t need to be on mushrooms to trip. The days trip me out. Nature does. For me, walking into a forest is like going through a portal. It's a whole other world apart from the dirty cities we've built. The way the nahuales speak, the way the patterns reveal themselves—it’s all a kind of cosmic remix. Nature is a trip, when you're tripping on nature.
I’ve never seen a therapist. I saw DJs. I saw thousands of ravers moving as one, sharing unity consciousness under lasers and moonlight. That is sacred.
People say our music is dark...Gabber, Jungle, Hardcore.
Yeah. It is.
But we sat with that darkness. We danced with it. We channeled it. We didn’t have a guide, we became our own.
This spiritual path that’s unfolding before me? It came from those moments. And science is catching up, there’s strong evidence now that psychedelics can spark neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to rewire itself. Think of it like a DJ with a broken mixer and outdated gear. Psychedelics come in like a new patch, rerouting sound through new channels, fresh filters, unexpected effects. Suddenly, you’re not stuck in the same 8-bar loop. You’ve got infinite options. You’ve got remix potential.
And today is Chuen.
The weaver. The artist. The cosmic prankster.
The one who reminds us not to take it all so damn seriously.
Combined with Ho, the fifth tone, this is a day for action through joy, healing through play. And under the wing of Manik, we’re reminded that service doesn’t always mean self-sacrifice, it can mean bringing laughter into a heavy room. It can mean painting a portal, spinning a record, or sharing a story that sparks someone else’s healing.
So no, I’m not promoting psychedelics. I’m sharing stories backed by spirit and science.
The reality is that healing is oftentim#mesoamerican #calander #tzolkin #daykeeper #maya #hopi #kaqchiquel #kiche #tzutujil #mexica #parrotclan #trippingonnature #natureisatrip #fireceremony #water #fire #earth #wind #rabbit #Xbalanque #spiritanimal #spirituality #cosmology
