How I Clean and Deodorize My Trash Can 🗑️ 🧽
Cleaning the trash can isn’t the most exciting task, but it makes a big difference in keeping my kitchen fresh and bacteria-free. I make sure the products I use kill germs and eliminate odors — one stone two birds!
🧼 Products I Use:
👉🏼Lysol All-Purpose Cleaner – kills 99.9% of viruses & bacteria ( I like the fresh lemon scent)
👉🏼Lysol Disinfectant Spray – helps reduce lingering odors and adds an extra layer of freshness. It also kills over 100 illness causing germs.
👉🏼Fresh Wasve Odor Removing Packs — the scent from the spray products will be gone pretty soon and this lasts longer to keep the odor away.
My Cleaning Routine:
1. Spray Lysol All-Purpose Cleaner inside and out
2. Scrub thoroughly
3. Rinse again and let it air dry completely
4. Finish with a light mist of Lysol Disinfectant Spray
5. Clean the trash drawer with the same products
Optional Step: I also like to toss a pack of Fresh Wave Odor Removing or Febreze Air Freshener at the bottom of the trash drawer and use a very strong fresh scent trash bag.
Keeping the trash can clean helps my whole kitchen smell fresher — and it only takes a few minutes.

Keeping your trash can clean is essential for a hygienic home. Using products like Lysol and Fresh Wave ensures that not only are odors eliminated, but harmful germs are killed too. When choosing a cleaner, opt for those that mention effectiveness against viruses, as many can combat illness-causing pathogens, including those from everyday waste. To enhance your cleaning routine, consider additional tips like using baking soda as a natural deodorizer or a mixture of vinegar and water for a non-toxic solution. After thoroughly cleaning your trash can, allowing it to air dry can help prevent mold and bacteria growth. Remember to regularly check your trash drawer for residue and clean it using the same products, as it can often be a source of unpleasant smells. Implementing these habits not only enhances your kitchen's odor but promotes a more sanitary living environment. Small steps like these make a significant impact on household cleanliness and freshness!

Keeping trash cans clean is important, but chemical cleaners aren’t always the best solution. Sometimes, natural methods can be just as effective and healthier.
