Protein French Toast 🤤

Are you needing to get your protein in but tired of getting it the same way everyday?! Check out this French toast recipe below! ⬇️ I love French toast, one of my favorite breakfast items!

I got this recipe from one of the trainers at the burn boot camp I attend.

What you will need:

- bread

- 1 scoop of protein (I use the after burn vanilla that I get at boot camp, but you use whatever works for you)

- 1 egg

- cinnamon

- any type of syrup you like

Make:

- whisk egg and protein after burn together

- add cinnamon to the mixture

- soak the bread in the mixture

- put in frying pan with a light coating of oil spray

- flip and serve!

I have to admit mine did not look like the picture (I need a new pan) but it still tasted really good! It was easy to make, and perfect way to change up your breakfast while still hitting your goals!

Definitely give it a try!

... Read moreHey everyone! I'm so glad you loved my simple protein French toast recipe! It's truly a lifesaver for those busy mornings when you want something delicious but also packed with goodness. Since I shared it, I’ve gotten some great questions about how to customize it even further, especially for those looking to maximize their protein intake or tweak the macros. So, I wanted to share some extra tips and tricks I've picked up along the way to make your protein French toast even better! First off, let's talk about the egg situation. My original recipe uses one whole egg, which gives it a rich flavor and helps bind everything together perfectly. However, if you're really aiming for a higher protein-to-fat ratio, or just prefer a lighter texture, you can absolutely swap in egg whites! I've tried it myself, and it works wonderfully. For each whole egg you'd normally use, you can substitute about two to three egg whites (or about 1/4 cup liquid egg whites). Just whisk them thoroughly with your protein powder and cinnamon, then proceed with the recipe as usual. This is a fantastic way to boost the protein even more without adding extra fat, making it truly high-protein French toast! Another thing many of you asked about is how to get that perfect 'golden brown' finish, just like in those drool-worthy pictures! It's all about the heat and the oil. I've found that using a non-stick pan with a light spray of avocado oil or coconut oil works best. Don't crank the heat too high – a medium heat ensures the bread cooks through and gets that beautiful golden crust without burning. Flip it when the first side is nicely browned, usually after 2-3 minutes. Patience is key for that Instagram-worthy look! And yes, just like the image, a sprinkle of powdered sugar and a drizzle of syrup always makes it feel extra special. Speaking of protein powder, the type you use can really change the game. I love my vanilla protein for a classic taste, but don't be afraid to experiment! Chocolate protein powder can make a decadent, dessert-like French toast, or an unflavored one lets the cinnamon shine. Just make sure your protein powder mixes well to avoid any clumps in your batter. If you're using a plant-based protein, you might need a tiny splash more liquid to get the right consistency. And let's not forget the toppings! While syrup is classic, I love adding fresh berries like strawberries or blueberries for extra antioxidants and a pop of color. Sliced bananas, a dollop of Greek yogurt for even more protein, or a sprinkle of chopped nuts for healthy fats and crunch can elevate your breakfast to the next level. Sometimes, I even add a dash of nutmeg or a tiny bit of orange zest to the batter for a flavor twist. Finally, for those who are serious about their fitness goals and tracking macros (like me!), measuring your ingredients accurately is super helpful. While the exact weight of a 'whole egg' isn't critical for this recipe's success, if you're adjusting ratios or scaling up the recipe, using a kitchen scale for your protein powder or even liquid egg whites can ensure consistent results every time. It's all about making this recipe work for YOU and your wellness journey. Give these tips a try, and let me know how it goes!

Wow, never thought that you could use protein powder instead of milk. That's different, I may have to try this sometime. 🍋🍋🍋🍋
