April 2025- tracking everything, working out daily bc drs told me that’s why I was in pain. Having no actual answers to anything ————
June 2026- working out with modifications 3/4 days a week, lots of answers, and still seeking treatment. Moving my body the way that WORKS for me. Learning about hEDS, POTS, and MCAS. Among plenty of co-morbidities 🥲
But I’m LIVING. Even if it’s considered “disabled”. That just means I have to work a lil harder to be healthy. But I WILL.
Dealing with chronic illnesses like hEDS (hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome), POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), and MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome) can feel overwhelming, especially when initial medical consultations don't provide clear answers. From my personal experience, tracking symptoms and adjusting my routine was crucial in beginning to understand my body's needs better. Initially, I pushed myself to work out daily based on medical advice, hoping it would alleviate my pain. However, this rigid approach led to more uncertainties and discomfort. Over time, I realized that instead of following a one-size-fits-all plan, I needed to listen to my body and modify my exercise routine. Working out 3 to 4 days a week with variations tailored to my energy levels made a significant difference. Learning about my conditions, including the complex interplay of co-morbidities, empowered me to advocate for myself and seek treatments aligned with my unique circumstances. Lately, I prioritize gentle movements and rest when needed, acknowledging that managing chronic illnesses often means continuously adapting. Living with these diagnoses sometimes comes with being labeled as “disabled,” but I see it as a prompt to explore new ways to stay healthy and active. It’s about balancing effort with compassion for oneself. Sharing this journey is important to me, as I hope it encourages others facing similar challenges to keep searching for what works for them, celebrate small victories, and focus on living fully despite the hurdles.
