The Mekong River, one of the world’s most biodiverse rivers, has recently been facing an ecological challenge with reports of alien fish species appearing in its waters. This phenomenon can disrupt the delicate balance of aquatic ecosystems, impacting native fish populations and ultimately affecting the wildlife and human communities dependent on this vital water source. From personal experience living near river ecosystems, I have witnessed how the introduction of non-native fish can quickly lead to reduced biodiversity.
