... Read moreHaving lived in Singapore for some time, I can truly relate to the feeling that the city is like a 'living sauna island' during hot seasons. The combination of high humidity and soaring temperatures creates an environment where even stepping outside can feel overwhelming. This heat is often intensified by global weather phenomena such as El Niño, which tends to bring drier and hotter conditions, and La Niña, which can alternate the weather patterns unpredictably. One thing I’ve learned is that managing this extreme weather requires not just adjusting your lifestyle but also understanding the climate patterns that drive these changes. For instance, El Niño events usually lead to reduced rainfall and higher temperatures in Singapore, making the air feel thick and sticky. On the other hand, La Niña can sometimes bring bursts of rain but still keep the humidity levels high. Personally, I’ve found that staying hydrated and using cooling methods like misting fans or air conditioning are essential for comfort. Additionally, dressing in lightweight, breathable fabrics helps combat the heat. Avoiding outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours is also a practical way to prevent heat exhaustion. It’s fascinating how weather patterns impact day-to-day living here. Similar to the surprising insights about capybaras’ legs in another post—where the perception differs from reality—we often underestimate how much local weather phenomena like El Niño and La Niña influence Singapore's microclimate and our wellbeing. Sharing these experiences helps raise awareness about how extreme weather patterns affect urban living in tropical regions. Whether you’re a resident or just visiting, understanding these factors can help you better prepare for and enjoy life in Singapore, even when it feels like a sauna island.

10 min butter garlic rice + steak
One pot, full meal, less mess. This Garlic Butter Rice with Rib Eye Steak is my kind of dinner hack I made the rice underneath and cooked the steak on the rack with the Ninja Foodi SmartLid 11-in-1 Multi-Cooker, so everything comes together in one pot with way less cleanup. Juicy steak, garlick

Milk tea combi laminates 🧋
The featured laminates are Beige Linen from Lamitak and Light Loft Birch from EDL! I love how “neat”/ “clean” the wood grains in the Loft Birch series look. Highly recommend going down to their showrooms to check out the samples in real life and to compare them against your tile samples too. #
