One effective strategy I found is to take deliberate space before reacting to any situation. This pause helps me assess my true feelings rather than automatically mirroring others' energy or stress. I also realized that not every emotion or problem around me needs to become mine. Recognizing ‘‘everything isn’t mine to carry’’ was a turning point. When I remind myself this, I feel less burdened and more empowered to focus on what truly matters to me. Another practice I integrated was regularly checking in with myself: How do I feel right now? Am I overwhelmed because I absorbed someone else's negativity? This self-awareness allows me to consciously choose my response rather than react impulsively. Avoiding matching other people's energy was difficult at first, but it helped me maintain my peace. Sometimes, walking away or letting things pass without holding on to them is the healthiest choice. It preserves your energy and keeps your mental space clear. Ultimately, protecting your energy isn't about shutting out others but about prioritizing your emotional health and choosing what you allow into your life. Incorporating these habits has greatly improved my emotional healing journey, growth, and daily self-care routine.
