I moved across the country! OK📍-> WA📍

A few months ago I was working, living in Oklahoma, and doing life completely differently.

Now I’m in Washington, learning how to navigate life as a stay at home mom to my almost 1 year old after moving across the country for my husband’s job. 🤍

This season feels messy and beautiful all at once. New state, new routines, new identity, and a whole lot of change… but I’m embracing it one day at a time

Trying to romanticize this new season of life one coffee run, park day, and slow morning at a time ✨

... Read moreMoving across the country is undoubtedly one of the most significant changes anyone can face, especially when it involves adjusting to a new state and a new way of life. From my personal experience, relocating not only means changing physical locations but also reshaping daily routines and personal identity. When I moved from Oklahoma to Washington, I found myself balancing the role of a stay-at-home mom to my almost one-year-old while adapting to unfamiliar surroundings and the slower pace of my new lifestyle. One of the biggest challenges I encountered was the feeling of disorientation that often comes with such transitions. Simple things like finding the best local coffee shop or a favorite park suddenly became small adventures and ways to reconnect with the new environment. I found that intentionally romanticizing these everyday moments—a quiet morning coffee, family time at the park, or leisurely walks in nature—helped me appreciate this new season of life rather than feeling overwhelmed by it. It’s also important to acknowledge the mixed emotions involved: excitement for new opportunities, apprehension about leaving a familiar place, and the ongoing process of creating new routines. For many, especially stay-at-home parents, relocating can trigger a complex blend of loss and growth. I recommend connecting with local community groups, parenting forums, or neighborhood events to build a support system and ease the transition. Embracing change one day at a time, as I’ve learned, helps manage the uncertainty and fosters a sense of stability. By focusing on small, meaningful moments and allowing myself to gradually develop a new identity within the Washington community, I’ve been able to transform this messy yet beautiful season into an enriching chapter of life. For anyone moving to a new state, remember that while the process can be challenging, it’s also an opportunity to discover new joys and create lasting memories with your family.
