Meet Ivy bean

You know how some dogs just have that *look*? That little smirk that says, 'Yeah, I just got away with it,' or 'I know I'm cute, don't even try to resist'? Well, that's my Ivy bean, perfectly summed up. She's got this totally smug expression that just melts your heart, even when she's being a little mischievous. When people look for 'smug Ivy' online, I bet they're picturing a dog just like mine! I've had her since she was a tiny fluffball, and even then, you could see glimpses of her future 'smugness.' Now at two years old, she's really perfected it. You see it most clearly right after she's successfully begged for a piece of my dinner, or when she's just finished a round of zoomies and collapses onto the couch, looking at me like, 'What? I'm just resting my majestic self.' Her big floppy ears, which I sometimes call her 'beanie baby' ears, seem to amplify her expressions, making her looks even more pronounced. She's obsessed with food – literally anything, as I mentioned – and her smug face after crunching down a stolen piece of kibble (or worse, something off the counter!) is priceless. She'll glance over, tail wagging ever so slightly, with an expression that screams, 'Worth it!' It’s like she knows she’s irresistible. We often joke that she's plotting her next snack heist with that look. Her nickname 'beans' sometimes feels short for 'bean counter' because she's always calculating her next move for treats. Her favorite hobby is 'hanging out with my big brother,' which usually involves her finding the warmest spot on his bed and pushing him gently until he moves, then settling in with a satisfied, almost smug, sigh. They truly are the 'craziest duo' because he tolerates her antics with such grace, and she knows it! Even when she's doing her one trick – 'sit' – she does it with an air of superiority, as if to say, 'Okay, fine, I'll do your little trick, but only because I feel like it.' Watching her grow from that tiny puppy (the one in the 'Meet Ivy bean' photo) to the slightly larger, equally adorable, and undeniably smug dog she is today, as seen in the 'Look How big I got' pictures, has been amazing. Every photograph captures a new stage of her smug charm. She truly is my little 'beans,' and her smug antics bring so much joy and laughter into our home every single day.
