The Offset Kettlebell Squat is a FAV of mine!!

It's a great way to “sneak in” extra core work in a functional way.

Through the offset squat, we get to work anti-lateral flexion (our body is resisting crunching to the side)

This squat variation also teaches you to brace under asymmetrical load, and tbh we don't train that enough, as important as it is.

I particularly LOVE this squat variation for pre- and post-partum Mamis because it specifically trains what you'll be doing irl: squatting down, moving around, all while holding baby on one hip.

Try this on your next leg day and lmk what you think!

... Read moreIncorporating the Offset Kettlebell Squat into your routine not only challenges your legs but also activates your core in a unique and functional way. By holding the kettlebell on one side, you force your body to resist lateral flexion, meaning your obliques and deep core muscles work harder to maintain balance and stability. This is especially beneficial for daily activities where you often carry objects unevenly, such as holding a child or grocery bags on one side. I started doing the Offset Kettlebell Squat using a 35LB kettlebell, gradually increasing the weight as my strength improved. Initially, it felt challenging to brace under the asymmetrical load, but with consistent practice, I noticed a significant improvement in my posture and core endurance. For pre- and post-partum moms, this exercise is a game-changer because it mimics real-life movements like squatting while holding a baby on one hip, helping to build practical strength that reduces the risk of injury. When performing this exercise, focus on maintaining a straight spine and engaging your core throughout the movement. Start with lighter weights to master the form, then progressively increase the load. Additionally, integrating anti-lateral flexion exercises like side planks can complement this squat variation for a well-rounded core workout. Overall, the Offset Kettlebell Squat is an excellent way to sneak in advanced core work on your leg day, enhancing both strength and functional fitness. Give it a try and see how it transforms your training and daily movement!
