Let 2026 be the year of beautiful creations🫶

This year I want to continue developing my crafts and keep growing a community with other crafters! What crafts do you plan to do this year? Are you interested in learning any new ones?

I think right now my favorite from all of these is junk journaling. I love to lay everything out and pick a theme to make a chaotic looking page. I can spend hours designing a page and not even realize how much time has gone by! If you want to see all of the junk journal pages I’ve done so far, I have them all posted in my notes!

Other than crafting, I definitely plan to play a lot of games as well and only a few more days until the animal crossing update 🤩

Junk journaling, for instance, offers such a freeing way to express creativity by combining old papers, stickers, and themed layouts into cohesive pages filled with personality. It’s incredible how time simply flies when you’re immersed in designing a vibrant, chaotic collage that tells a story. Beyond junk journaling, crochet remains a timeless crafting skill that opens up endless possibilities—from cozy scarves to intricate amigurumi toys. Embroidery, too, has seen a resurgence, where even beginners can start with simple stitches to personalize clothing and accessories or create stunning wall art. If you enjoy hands-on building, LEGO sets add an interactive dimension to creativity, allowing you to construct elaborate models that can be both relaxing and challenging. One thing I’ve learned through these activities is that crafting isn’t just about the end product; it’s about the community and connection that comes with sharing ideas and techniques. Following dedicated groups, participating in challenges, and exchanging tips can enhance motivation and introduce you to perspectives you might never have considered. Also, balancing crafting with leisure activities like gaming can refresh your mind and offer new inspiration. For example, updates in games like Animal Crossing often bring imaginative seasonal elements and community events that can spark ideas for DIY projects or themed journals. If you’re looking to expand your crafting skills this year, I suggest starting with manageable projects in junk journaling or embroidery, experimenting with different themes and materials. Document your progress in a journal or social media to connect with others on a similar journey. Remember, the joy is in creating and sharing your unique artistic voice throughout the year, making 2026 a truly beautiful year of creation!

I love doing Lego sets and also creating my own design with Lego blocks. I love crocheting. I also do diamond paintings and make wreaths for different seasons and some for specific holidays. (I also work on cars and do scrap metal.)

Just like the past few years, my 2026 to-do list includes a few things I’ve been meaning to get around to: finally starting junk journaling (I’ve been putting it off, so I need to stop buying stuff for it and actually start doing it), learning how to embroider by hand and using my sewing machine, and teaching myself how to sew using a sewing machine that has an embroidery machine on it. I’m also planning to start doing puzzles (and stop buying them until I finish the ones I already have) and learning how to crochet (and stop buying yarn). I’m also planning to start reading some of the books I’ve bought and actually start reading them. I’ve downloaded some books (I’m reading what I have before I buy more). I’m also planning to start making jewelry that I keep buying and putting where it goes, but not doing anything with it. I also do the Legos; they help with anxiety.
