Intentional

Marry the person you can figure life out with.

Not the person who promises you’ll never struggle.

Not the person who has every answer.

Not the person who makes life look perfect.

The person who hears,

“How are we going to afford this?”

“What if this doesn’t work out?”

“What are we going to do now?”

and says,

“I don’t know yet, but we’ll figure it out.”

Because one day your kids will have hard days too.

And when they call their dad scared, overwhelmed, or unsure of what comes next...

I hope they hear the same thing you’ve heard all these years:

“We’ll figure it out.”

You don’t need someone who can promise you an easy life.

You need someone who makes you feel like you’ll never have to figure it out alone.

It's not about finding someone who has all the answers; it's about finding a teammate who listens and responds with, "We'll figure it out." This mindset creates a foundation of trust and resilience that benefits not only the couple but also their children. In my journey, I've realized that challenges such as financial worries, career changes, or parenting struggles aren't obstacles to avoid but opportunities to grow stronger as a family. When kids see their parents openly navigating difficulties and supporting each other, they learn valuable lessons about problem-solving and emotional security. Intentional parenting and marriage go hand in hand here. By choosing to be intentional—acknowledging imperfections, embracing vulnerability, and committing to mutual support—we model a healthy approach to life's ups and downs. This approach reassures children that they are never alone, no matter what fears or uncertainties they face. Ultimately, marrying the person you can figure life out with means building a partnership based on empathy, patience, and shared effort. It fosters an environment where challenges become manageable and love grows deeper because it’s earned through facing life realistically, together.
