How to Stream Your Console on OBS Studio
For this I am using my Nintendo Switch but this should work for any other console as well.
Step 1: Nintendo Switch & Capture Card Connection
1. Insert the HDMI cable into the Nintendo Switch Dock (where the HDMI Out port is located).
2. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI In port of the capture card.
Step 2: Capture Card & Computer Connection
1. A USB comes with the capture card and plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port of the capture card.
2. Plug the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on your computer.
Step 3: OBS Setup
1. Click the ”+” button under the “Sources” panel on the bottom left.
2. Choose “Video Capture Device”.
3. Name your source and press OK.
4. In the Properties window, under the Device dropdown, select your capture card. The name may be different so choose the one that relates and you should immediately see the Switch screen appear in the preview window.
Step 4: Audio Setup
If you want to capture the audio of your Switch.
1. Go to the “Properties” on your capture card source.
2. Scroll down until you see “Audio Output Mode”
3. Check the first box that says “use custom audio device”
4. You should now be able to select your capture card in the drop down menu and adjust to your liking.
I like to test beforehand, so I like to “Start Recording” to ensure all is set up properly. Once it’s all good, start your stream!
