Religion without judgement 🩵✝️
I recently accepted God into my heart and started following His word, but I’ve also done a ton of reflection on why it took me so long to get to this point… and honestly it’s never been about not believing. I remember attending church as a small child and following along to sermons and actually feeling good about it. I remember praying as a child and feeling seen and heard when no one else in my life could do that for me. I remember being a young teenage girl experiencing life and all the things that come with it and still turning to God when things felt heavy and impossible. My faith has always been there, it just wasn’t nurtured by the world around me. It was like a little flicker of a flame that others tried to blow out any chance they got, and for a long time I feel they did succeed in extinguishing it. Especially the people that claimed to be “good” people, God fearing Christians. The ones that followed his word perfectly and discouraged the ones that didn’t. The Christians that use God’s word to do harm and create turmoil were the problem, it wasn’t my faith, God’s word was used against me. When times got tough and I went through some of the most challenging, traumatic moments of my life it was the church goers that told me I deserved the things that I went through because I lived in sin. That God killed my baby because he was created out of wedlock. I was told he didn’t deserve to live because God hated him for having parents who invited satan into their lives by not being married. That was a huge turning point for me. How could something hate an innocent baby so much that He wouldn’t let it live? In turn, my seed of doubt flourished and I carried that with me for 11 years, but I’ve always felt like I was missing something. So I recently went back out in search of God, reading His word, attending church, praying, and just really truly handing over my life to Him and I feel whole again. For the first time in a very very long time I feel content.
So yes, I found God, and I’m now the woman that posts scriptures and expresses my newfound faith but I’m also still me and I won’t ever judge anyone for not choosing the same path as me. I don’t believe bad things happen to people because they’re sinners, everyone sins, I really can’t believe that people are targeted and made to feel extreme heartbreak because God hates them for sinning. Jesus didn’t die on the cross for God to hate us and I’m sorry for the people that have the religious ick because of people that use the Bible and the word of God to justify the hate they carry in their hearts. I will not be one of those people, and this space of mine will never condone that behavior.
