Day in My Life in Healthcare Marketing: First Year
Ever wonder what a day in healthcare marketing really looks like?
Spoiler: it's way more than just emails and meetings.
As someone who’s been in the field for just under a year, I can confidently say no two days are the same—and that’s exactly what I love about it.
A “typical” day starts with caffeine (of course) and a quick scan of my calendar, planner, and SmartSheets. I rely heavily on all three to keep me organized and aligned, especially since I’m often juggling multiple events and campaigns at once. I usually work 8–9 hours a day, and if I’m lucky, I get to clock out a little early on Fridays. On event days though? It’s all hands on deck—12+ hours of non-stop coordination, communication, and creative problem-solving.
Throughout the day, I might be:
🔹 Planning hospital events from the ground up—think logistics, theme, budget, promo materials, and everything in between
🔹 Coordinating with vendors and partners to make sure every detail is locked in
🔹 Collaborating with various hospital departments—nursing, administration, facilities—to make sure we’re all on the same page
🔹 Designing promotional materials in Canva (yes, I do get to flex my creative side!)
🔹 Tracking tasks and timelines in SmartSheets
🔹 Answering emails, joining strategy calls, reviewing feedback, and making sure nothing slips through the cracks
I come from a unique background—my bachelor's degree is in education, and I also hold an AA in psychology. That foundation in communication and understanding people really helps me in this role. I’ve also completed FEMA certifications in emergency management and earned a marketing certificate through LinkedIn Learning, which gives me an edge when navigating both creative strategy and operational compliance.
Every project I work on serves a greater purpose: making healthcare more accessible, more human, and more connected to the community. That mission keeps me motivated—even on the busiest days.
