Working at Swedish as a Patient Care Coordinator was a meaningful step in my career journey. It was my first real experience in the healthcare field, and I genuinely loved so many aspects of it.

My favorite part? The patients. I really enjoyed connecting with people every day—helping them navigate appointments, listening to their concerns, and making their healthcare experience feel a little more human. I also had some truly amazing coworkers. We supported each other through busy days and tough moments, and I still think about that team often.

I also loved how much I learned about the healthcare system. From insurance processes to clinic operations, I gained so much knowledge that I carry with me today. It sparked my ongoing interest in the healthcare field and helped me see how every role—big or small—makes a difference in a patient’s care.

That said, I would rate it a 3 out of 5. The work was important, but every day felt pretty much the same, which eventually became draining. I missed the variety and creativity of previous roles. And while I valued the job, I was only making $20 an hour—actually a pay cut from my prior position—which was tough considering the level of responsibility and emotional energy the role required.

Still, I’d do it again. It was a solid foundation for anyone wanting to explore the healthcare field, and it helped me realize how passionate I am about working with people and making a difference in their day
