How I went from 125 to 856 followers in one week
A week ago, I had 125 followers. Today? I'm sitting at 856—and no, I didn’t go viral on another platform, use fancy editing, or spam my content. I simply showed up consistently and honestly—and that’s exactly why it worked.

I Focused on One Niche—Kind Of
My content is mostly centered around hospital marketing (my full-time job) and working part-time in child care, which may sound like two separate lanes, but they actually connect through one central theme: real-life career storytelling. I share day-in-the-life content and transparent posts about how to get started in either field. I’m not trying to sell a dream life—I’m trying to show what it’s really like.
I stopped overthinking and just started sharing what I wish I’d seen when I was trying to break into this work.
I Posted (Even When It Wasn't Perfect)
Let’s be honest—some weeks I only post twice. Other weeks, like when I took part in a Lemon8 challenge, I posted daily. But no matter what, I posted something. No over-editing. No text overlays. Just 3+ authentic photos whenever I could and a caption that felt like a conversation.
People respond to people, not perfection.
I Got Involved, Not Just Active
I didn’t just post and leave—I stuck around. I liked and commented on other creators’ content, especially people in similar or adjacent spaces. I replied to every comment on my own posts (even the awkward ones!). And I meant what I said—I wasn’t just networking, I was connecting.
That’s when Lemon8 started feeling less like a platform and more like a space I actually belong in.
The Post That Tipped It All Off
I posted about getting into the Lemon8 Creator Program, and that one hit. It brought in new eyes, but because I had already been showing up, there was plenty of content for people to scroll through and connect with. That post gave me a spike—but the consistency and clarity is what made people stay.
So If You're Just Starting Out…
Don’t feel like you have to be an influencer overnight. You don’t need Canva graphics or ring lights or a viral TikTok to grow here.
You just need:
A clear purpose (even if it's just to share your world)
A little consistency (2x a week is enough)
A willingness to engage (with real intent)
And the courage to post even if it’s not “perfect”
I’m still figuring it all out, but I hope this encourages someone else who’s hovering at 100 or 200 followers wondering if it’s worth it.
