We went to H mart and bought some random Asian goodies. Please let us know what we ingested because we have no clue.
Okay, so you guys know I love a good adventure, and my latest one took me straight to H Mart! My goal? Grab some random Asian goodies and do a blind taste test because, honestly, half the fun is not knowing what you're getting into. My shopping cart looked like a treasure chest of brightly colored packages and intriguing textures, and I was so excited to dive in. First up, we snagged what looked like a giant, spiky green fruit candy. Turns out, it was a Durian candy! Now, I've heard all the stories about durian – the king of fruits, but also the most pungent. I was a bit nervous, I won't lie, bracing myself for that infamous smell and taste. Taking that first bite, I braced myself for something intense. And wow, it definitely has a unique flavor! It was sweet, creamy, but with that unmistakable... *aroma*. It's hard to describe, but it was surprisingly less overwhelming in candy form than I expected. While not my absolute favorite, it was definitely an experience I'm glad I tried. Worth trying if you're curious about this legendary fruit! Next, I picked up some bright pink mochi. These little chewy delights are always a hit with me, and these didn't disappoint. They were incredibly soft, perfectly sweet, with a delicate, almost floral filling that just melted in my mouth. A definite win and a comforting classic! I also grabbed a bag of those crispy roasted seaweed snacks. You know, the ones that are perfectly salty, incredibly light, and have that unmistakable umami kick? Those disappeared in about five minutes flat. So addictive and a great healthy-ish snack option! We also found these really interesting-looking rice crackers, shaped like little fish. They were savory, with a delightful hint of soy sauce and a satisfying, airy crunch. Perfect for when you need a light, savory snack that isn't too heavy. And then there was this tiny package of what seemed to be dried squid. Now, this was truly adventurous for me, as I'm not usually one for dried seafood. The texture was undeniably chewy, and the flavor was intensely savory, almost smoky and a little sweet. It took a few bites to get used to, but by the end, I was actually enjoying it in a strange, compelling way! It’s definitely an acquired taste, but if you’re into unique seafood snacks, give it a go. It was surprisingly more palatable than I anticipated. Overall, this H Mart haul and blind taste test was an absolute blast! It's so much fun to just pick things based on how they look and then try to figure them out, seeing what culinary surprises await. I highly recommend going on your own H Mart mystery snack adventure. You never know what delicious, wonderfully weird, or unexpectedly delightful things you'll discover on those shelves. And who knows, you might even become a durian fan after trying it in candy form!
