5 Milestones. The land collapsed from around the world. 🌍
5 Milestones. The earth collapsed from around the world. 🌍
1.Winter Park Sinkhole - Florida, USA (1981)
• A huge sinkhole, about 100 meters wide, more than 30 meters deep.
• Swallow houses, cars, swimming pools and car repair shops in a few hours.
• It is considered one of the most famous landfall events in the U.S. and is used as an example of geology studies.
2.Guatemala City Sinkhole - Guatemala City, Guatemala (2010)
• After Tropical Storm "Agatha," heavy rain and sewer water eroded underground.
• A sinkhole formed nearly 60 meters deep and more than 20 meters wide.
• The whole building and the people disappeared into the hole in a matter of minutes.
3.Berezniki Mine Collapse - Russia (2007-present)
• The city of Berezniki is located above the potash mine.
• Multiple successive collapses occur, creating large pits over 200 meters in diameter.
• The entire city is vulnerable to infiltration and a large number of people are evacuated.
4.Louisiana Sinkhole - Bayou Corne, USA (2012)
• Caused by the collapse of the salt dome that was mined for oil and gas storage.
• The hole continued to expand to be larger than 24 acres (nearly 100,000 m2).
• It requires the evacuation of communities and remains an environmental and toxic gas problem.
5. Bangkok, Three Seine Road - in front of Vajit Hospital
• A hole ~ 50 m deep, ~ 900 m ², is the largest case ever born in Thailand.
• Presumably linked subway construction sites
• No official evacuation was announced, but the area was blocked from entering and leaving, and some patients were temporarily evacuated in hospitals for safety.
