THE VOICE NOTES She never sent
“You know what’s embarrassing?
Missing someone
who sleeps peacefully
after breaking you.”
I couldn’t sleep last night.
Not because I was busy.
Not because I had too much on my mind.
But because somehow…
he still crosses my mind at the worst hours.
I kept staring at my phone wondering if he ever thinks about me the way I think about him.
If he ever misses my voice.
If he ever rereads our old messages.
If he ever feels guilty for how things ended.
And the sad truth is…
he’s probably sleeping peacefully while I’m still trying to heal from everything he put me through.
That’s what hurts the most.
Knowing someone can tell you they love you,
hold you,
kiss you,
make you feel safe…
and still become the reason you cry yourself to sleep later.
I miss the old version of him sometimes.
The soft version.
The loving version.
The version that made me believe we’d last.
And honestly?
It makes me feel stupid sometimes.
Because how do you miss someone who hurt you this badly?
But I think when you truly love someone,
your heart takes longer to accept what your mind already knows.
Maybe that’s why healing feels so lonely at night.
Because memories don’t disappear just because the relationship did.
Tell me honestly…
Have you ever missed someone you knew didn’t deserve your love anymore?
