The Voice Notes She Never Sent 🌸✍🏽
“I still sleep on my side of the bed…
like my body is waiting for him to come back.”
I tried to have a good day today.
Honestly, I really did.
I got a massage.
Did my nails.
Took myself out for breakfast.
And for a few hours…
I almost felt okay again.
I sat at my favorite coffee shop by the window while it rained outside.
I ordered the same thing I always get.
Avocado toast with tomatoes, onions, chia sprouts, and balsamic glaze.
And an iced matcha on the side.
The kind he used to call my “fancy little breakfast.”
I remember how he’d laugh every time I made him taste it knowing he hated avocado.
But he’d still take a bite anyway…
just because it made me happy.
That memory hit me harder than I expected today.
It’s weird how healing works.
You can be doing all the right things…
taking care of yourself,
going outside,
trying to feel pretty again,
trying to move forward…
and somehow love still finds little ways to sneak back into your chest.
Even during the massage today,
all I could think about was him.
The way he used to touch me after stressful days from work.
How I’d walk through the door exhausted and he’d immediately pull me close saying,
“Come here, baby. You look tired.”
The way his hands used to rub my shoulders slowly while I complained about my day.
And somehow…
that always felt better than any massage in the world.
oh gosh.
I miss being loved like that.
Not the toxic parts.
Not the confusion.
Just the soft parts.
The gentle love.
The kind where someone notices your stress before you even say anything.
He used to bring me food during lunch sometimes.
Always my favorites.
And no matter how busy he was,
he’d still text me:
“Did you eat?”
“Drink water.”
“Don’t overwork yourself.”
Little things.
But little things become big things when they disappear.
I came home tonight with fresh nails,
soft skin,
cute pictures on my phone,
and this heavy feeling in my chest.
Because no matter how much self-care I do lately…
part of me still misses sharing my life with him.
And maybe that’s what hurts the most.
Not sleeping alone.
Not being single.
But missing having someone who made ordinary moments feel special.
Now I still sleep on my side of the bed…
without even realizing it.
Like my body still believes he’s coming back to the other side.
Like love left physically…
but my heart hasn’t informed my habits yet.

That journey is one we all take in one form or another 🙏🏾❤️🌹
