Comedy Tv Show Recommendations 📺 (Current Favs)

One thing that I love about Comedy is that there’s so many different types of humor. Three comedy shows that I’ve really loved lately have been Abbott Elementary, The Sex Lives of College Girls, and The Bear. All are very unique but equally enjoyable.

Abbott Elementary🎒

This show is produced by Quinta Brunson, and it is a mockumentary style TV show that follows the lives of teachers at, a Philadelphia public school, Abbott Elementary. This show… when I tell you they make me DIE laughing. The references are so current and the cast chemistry is amazing. You can genuinely feel the amount of love and care that has been intentionally put into this show. Also it literally has won 4 Emmys and if that doesn’t tell you how good it is then idk what else to tell ya.

Season 3 is currently airing live on ABC on Wednesdays 9/8c.

The Sex Lives of College Girls 📝

This show follows 4 girls (Leighton, Whitney, Kimberly, and Bela) living as roommates. Each roommate’s personality is so different from each other but they make it work. They find themselves in wild situations balancing sports, school, boys, and all things that come with college life. They’re currently working on season 3, so now would be the perfect time to watch the first 2 seasons on Max! (Fun Fact: This is how I was first introduced to Renee Rapp!)

The Bear 🧑🏼‍🍳👩🏾‍🍳

This show is considered a comedy but I’m not going to lie, it does feel intense sometimes because it’s a comedy drama. It follows Carmy as he tries to take over his brother’s restaurant. You see all of the trials and tribulations that come with trying to run a business. It’s such a beautifully shot show and it does have an emphasis on family. It’ll have you saying “Yes, Chef” 🫡 and cousin, but it’s honestly such a good show. They’re currently filming seasons 3 and 4, but for now you can watch Season 1 and 2 on Hulu!

... Read moreThere's nothing quite like discovering a new comedy TV series that makes you genuinely laugh out loud, especially when it's perfect for a weekend binge. As someone who's always on the hunt for funny, binge-worthy shows, I've rounded up three incredible series that have completely captured my attention. They offer distinct styles of humor and compelling storylines, making them ideal for anyone looking to dive into a new world of entertainment. First up, let's talk about why 'Abbott Elementary' is an absolute must-watch. This mockumentary-style show, set in a Philadelphia public school, is a masterclass in heartwarming comedy. The cast chemistry is off the charts, and the writing is incredibly sharp, with so many current references that hit just right. What makes it so binge-worthy is how relatable the challenges faced by these dedicated teachers are, all while delivering consistent laughs. The diverse cast members bring such unique perspectives to their roles, making every episode feel fresh and engaging. You'll find yourself cheering for them, laughing with them, and maybe even shedding a happy tear or two. Plus, knowing it's won Emmys just solidifies its status as a top-tier comedy. With season 3 currently airing on ABC and available to stream, it's the perfect time to catch up on all the hilarious classroom antics. Next on my list is 'The Sex Lives of College Girls,' a fantastic series from the brilliant minds of Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble. This show follows four wildly different roommates as they navigate the ups and downs of college life. It’s funny, honest, and incredibly relatable, especially if you've ever experienced the chaos and camaraderie of dorm life. The humor comes from the authentic portrayal of young women balancing academics, sports, friendships, and, of course, their complicated love lives. It’s a show that makes you feel like you’re right there with them, experiencing all the awkward, hilarious, and sometimes heartbreaking moments. If you're looking for a show that combines witty dialogue with genuine character development, this is it. You can stream the first two seasons on Max now, and trust me, you'll want to binge them before the highly anticipated third season arrives. Finally, 'The Bear' might be categorized as a comedy-drama, but its comedic elements are undeniable and truly shine through the intensity. It follows a chef who returns home to run his family's struggling sandwich shop. While the pressure cooker environment of the kitchen provides plenty of drama, the rapid-fire dialogue, the quirky characters, and the sheer absurdity of some situations bring a unique brand of dark humor. It’s a show that pulls you in with its fast pace and incredibly well-shot scenes. The emphasis on family dynamics and the struggles of running a small business add layers of depth that make the comedic relief even more impactful. It's not your typical sitcom, but it's incredibly funny in its own way and utterly captivating. Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Hulu, offering a fantastic binge-watch experience that will have you saying “Yes, Chef!” in no time. These three shows prove that comedy comes in many forms, and they all promise an excellent time!
