Testing Y.L.I. Threads

2025/7/15 Edited to

... Read moreY.L.I. silk threads are renowned for their exceptional smoothness, vibrant colors, and durability, making them a preferred choice for intricate hand embroidery projects. This type of thread enhances the richness of embroidery with its lustrous finish and consistent thickness, ideal for techniques like French knots, trailing stitches, and couching stitch as referenced in the OCR content. French knots using single or double Y.L.I. silk threads add delicate texture and dimension, while trailing stitches benefit from the thread's smooth glide and subtle sheen. Meanwhile, couching stitch, which anchors threads with minimal surface coverage, highlights Y.L.I. silk's strength and flexibility. The combination of these stitching techniques unlocks creative possibilities for embroiderers looking to add depth and elegance to their work. Moreover, proper handling, such as using sharp embroidery needles and maintaining thread tension, ensures optimal results when working with Y.L.I. threads. For those interested in exploring embroidery with silk threads, integrating Y.L.I. products can significantly elevate projects, whether creating garments, decorative art pieces, or accessories. The detailed photos shared in the article further illustrate the thread’s texture and the finesse achievable, encouraging both beginners and experienced stitchers to experiment with Y.L.I. silk threads to expand their creative horizons.

I’ve been wanting to get into embroidery lately so I dug out my old supplies from years ago that have been stored in an old Polly Pocket bag lol. I figured I would be more likely to use it if it is organized and accessible so that’s what I aimed to do! I think it looks much better now! #orga

An embroidery sample demonstrating superfine and flat metallic threads. It shows French knots with double and single turns, blended with DMC threads, and a comparison of thread thickness, highlighting how these threads add shine to different embroidery techniques.
Two packages of Krystal Flash threads are displayed: one labeled 'ORVIS Krystal Flash OLIVE' and the other 'HARELINE Krystal Flash Pearl'. These represent the superfine and flat metallic threads used for embroidery.
Four spools of Veevus hairthick threads are shown, with two spools numbered '1' and '2' for comparison. These threads are suitable for fine-grained textures and architectural details.
Testing some threads from a fishing store
1. Superfine threads Good for very fine-grained texture, for further objects like on pine branches, for extremely small architectural details (darker colors, not light) 2. Flat metallic threads As you can see, it's nothing special if you use them to blend with other threads or pine needles

Cutting of threads ^^
I cut off a piece of thread about 13” long (33 cm) or about 11”. There are several reasons why: thick fabric (threads are thinning and tearing faster), very thin needles, miniature stitches, and some of the threads I use get tangled or split if they are too long.
