🫀 Cardiac System Basics: Made Easy 🫀

Here’s a snapshot of my cardiac anatomy and physiology notes from when I was a pre-nursing student 🩺📖! I created these to help me better understand the circulatory system and the heart, and they ended up being a lifesaver during study sessions.

Whether you’re just starting out or need a refresher, hopefully this quick, basic guide breaks down the fundamentals of this complex topic into easy-to-understand visuals. Plus, there’s a blank template included so you can test your knowledge!

💡 Save this post for your next study session and share it with anyone who might need a little extra help in A&P. Nursing may be a bit challenging, but YOU WILL NOT BE DEFEATED! You’ve got this! 💪✨

Peace & Blessings!🦋🙏

... Read moreThe circulatory system, also known as the cardiovascular system, plays a crucial role in maintaining homeostasis by facilitating the movement of blood, oxygen, and nutrients throughout the body. Key components of this system include the heart, blood vessels (arteries, veins, capillaries), and blood itself. The heart acts as the central pump, moving oxygenated blood away from it through arteries and returning deoxygenated blood via veins. Understanding the flow of blood within the heart is pivotal; deoxygenated blood enters the right atrium, moves through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle, and is pumped to the lungs for oxygenation through the pulmonary arteries. Once oxygenated, blood returns to the heart via pulmonary veins, enters the left atrium, passes through the mitral valve into the left ventricle, and is then distributed throughout the body via the aorta. To facilitate self-study, a blank template for practice has been included in this guide. This ensures a deeper grasp of cardiovascular anatomy and functions, helping students and learners to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Remember, mastering the cardiac system concepts is essential not just for exams, but also for understanding human health and diseases. Embrace these learning tools and you’ll thrive in your anatomy and physiology studies!
