Big Island is my Heaven on Earth. Here’s some of my favorite places I recommend to go while visiting Hawai’i Island. Experience lava, snow, ocean, black sand, and tropical paradise!

The Big Island of Hawaii stands out as a uniquely diverse destination where you can experience an incredible blend of natural wonders all in one place. From the active lava flows of Kīlauea to the snowy summit of Mauna Kea, each location offers something special that can't be found elsewhere. Kīlauea is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, and its lava flows reshape the island’s landscape, providing visitors with awe-inspiring views. Near Kīlauea, the Nāhuku Lava Tube is a fascinating underground cave formed by ancient molten lava, giving travelers a glimpse into the island’s fiery past. If you’re drawn to history and culture, the Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park is a must-see. This sacred place was once a refuge for ancient Hawaiians and now serves as a beautifully preserved cultural site where you can learn about the rich heritage of the islands. Beach lovers can enjoy the punishingly beautiful Punalu'u Beach, famous for its black sand created from lava fragments. This beach also occasionally hosts endangered sea turtles basking on the shore, a memorable sight for visitors. For amazing snorkeling experiences, Kahalu'u Beach Park offers vibrant marine life and calm waters perfect for beginners and seasoned snorkelers alike. The Mauna Kea Summit offers stunning panoramic views, especially at sunset, but it’s important to prepare for cold weather and altitude. It’s also a sacred site to Native Hawaiians and home to observatories that contribute significantly to astronomy. Don’t forget to visit Rainbow Falls, where the mist creates frequent rainbows, making it a picturesque spot perfect for photography. we spend literally our whole lives hitting roadblocks, learning to overcome them, growing as a result, and then hitting more roadblocks 😅 you’ll never be able to avoid them!! you can only do a better job anticipating them 🫶 i think this (what’s in the slides above) is an amazing rule of thumb
