Keep The Curves, Drop The Fat 💪🏾

It was fun loading up on red potatoes and going as heavy as I could on the leg press & smith machines.

PLAY TIME IS OVER NOW 😎😈

Although building muscle is very important to the look I am going for my physique… it’s time to lose about 30 lbs. I am currently…

Dress Size: 12/14

Weight: 220

Goal Dress Size: 9/10

Goal Weight: 185

Here’s the Split I’m using to get there…

Daily 3 mile run. Non negotiable.

Monday- Leg Day + Abs

Tuesday - Upper Body (HIIT) + Abs

Wednesday - Glutes + Pilates

Thursday - Upper Body (HIIT) + Abs

Friday - Full Body + Abs

Saturday - Active Rest (yoga, swim, walk)

Sunday - Intentional Stretch

excited to see where I’ll be in 12 weeks! 😎

... Read moreSo, you've heard me talk about my 12-week 'cutting season' journey, and maybe you're wondering how I'm planning to get that 'toned thick' look without losing all my hard-earned curves. It's a question I get a lot, and honestly, finding that balance is key when you're aiming for a specific physique. I've been experimenting with my routine, and I'm excited to share more about my thought process behind this transformation. First, let's tackle the age-old debate: cardio vs. weights for transformation. Many people think you have to pick one, but from my experience, and especially for achieving a 'toned thick' look, it's not an either/or situation—it's a powerful combination! My daily 3-mile run is non-negotiable because cardio is fantastic for burning calories, improving cardiovascular health, and boosting my metabolism, which is crucial during cutting season. This helps me shed the extra fat. However, weights are just as, if not more, important for shaping my body. Lifting helps me preserve and build the muscle mass that gives me my curves and that 'toned' appearance. Without weight training, I'd risk losing muscle along with fat, which isn't the goal. My split, with specific days for legs, glutes, and full body, ensures I hit all the right areas to maintain my shape. When it comes to effective exercises for weight loss, it's all about intensity and consistency. While my workout split outlines the days, the actual exercises within those days are chosen to maximize calorie burn and muscle engagement. For example, on leg day, instead of just light machines, I focus on compound movements like squats, lunges, and deadlifts (even on the smith machine, which allows me to go heavy with good form). These exercises work multiple muscle groups, burning more calories and building more strength. For upper body HIIT, I love incorporating circuits with burpees, push-ups, rows, and overhead presses to keep my heart rate up and challenge my muscles simultaneously. It’s not just about doing the exercises; it’s about doing them with purpose and pushing yourself each time. Now, for anyone wanting that 'toned thick woman' aesthetic, remember that it's about body recomposition. It's not just about the number on the scale, but about the ratio of muscle to fat. My goal of losing 30 lbs isn't just weight loss; it's fat loss, while ideally maintaining or even slightly increasing muscle definition. This is why protein intake is so important (as hinted by my previous hashtags!). I'm meticulously planning my meals to ensure I'm in a calorie deficit for fat loss, but still consuming enough protein to fuel my muscles and aid recovery. Meal prep has become my best friend to stay on track. This holistic approach—combining specific cardio, targeted weightlifting, and mindful nutrition—is what I believe will get me to my goal weight of 185 lbs and that coveted size 9/10 dress, all while keeping my curves intact. It’s going to be challenging, but I’m ready for this 12-week cutting season!
