Why You should Remove your old lemon8 followers 🚫

Only the old ones of course .

A lot of my early followers came from TikTok spillover — not real supporters, just folks who tapped “follow” out of curiosity.

👀 They don’t engage. No likes, no saves, no shares = LOW views.

📉 Dead weight followers confuse the algorithm. It thinks my content isn’t hitting, when in reality, it’s just not being shown to people who care.

So now? I’m clearing the room so my real audience can find me. I want my content in front of women who are ready to grow, heal, and elevate — not sit in silence.

This is your permission to let go of what’s not serving your brand. Quality > quantity. Every time. 💁🏽‍♀️✨

... Read moreI totally get how daunting it can feel to even think about removing followers, especially when you've worked hard to build your community. But trust me, as someone who’s been there, sometimes a good digital cleanse is exactly what your Lemon8 profile needs to thrive. The original post perfectly explains why those inactive accounts can actually hurt your visibility, making the algorithm think your content isn't resonating. I personally experienced this: my views were stagnant, and I felt like I was shouting into the void, even with a decent follower count. So, how do you actually go about removing old followers on Lemon8? It's simpler than you might think, but takes a little dedication. Here’s a quick guide based on my own process: Identify Inactive Accounts: Scroll through your follower list. Look for profiles that never engage with your posts – no likes, no comments, no saves. You can also check their profiles to see if they're active themselves. If they haven't posted in months or have very little engagement on their own content, they're likely good candidates. Access Their Profile: Tap on their profile picture/name from your follower list. Initiate Removal: Once on their profile, look for the three-dot menu (or similar icon) in the top right corner. Tap it, and you should see an option like 'Remove Follower' or 'Block User.' Choosing 'Remove Follower' means they won't be notified, and they can refollow you later. 'Block User' is more permanent and prevents them from seeing your content or refollowing. For a general cleanse, 'Remove Follower' is usually sufficient. Confirm: Confirm your decision. Repeat for all identified inactive accounts. It might feel a little harsh at first, seeing your follower count drop. I won't lie, it stung a tiny bit when I saw the numbers go down. But I quickly realized that those numbers were just vanity metrics. What happened next was truly transformative! Within a few weeks, my engagement rates started climbing. My content was finally reaching people who genuinely cared and actively participated in the conversations I was trying to spark. The algorithm seemed to 'understand' my niche better, pushing my posts to a more relevant audience. Beyond just removing followers, consider these additional steps to ensure your Lemon8 space is vibrant and engaging: Engage with Your Engaged Audience: Don't just post and leave! Respond to comments, like their posts, and truly build a community with your active followers. This signals to the algorithm that your content is valuable and deserving of more reach. Optimize Your Content Strategy: Are you creating content that truly resonates with your target audience? Use relevant hashtags, create visually appealing posts, and provide genuine value. Think about what problems you're solving or what inspiration you're offering. Utilize Lemon8 Analytics: If available, dive into your post insights. See which content performs best and who your active audience is. This data is gold for refining your strategy and attracting more engaged followers. The key takeaway from my own journey is this: a smaller, highly engaged following is infinitely more valuable than a huge, silent one. By being intentional about who you want in your community – even if it means saying goodbye to some old names – you create a more authentic and rewarding experience for everyone involved, especially for yourself and your content's reach. It's about building a space where your content isn't just seen, but truly felt and interacted with.

I’m not so sure how relevant this is on Lemon8. I definitely think it makes sense on a platform like Instagram, but I don’t think Lemon8 uses the same algorithm where your followers need to interact before a post will get pushed out to others. I don’t seem to have a lot of engagement from followers, but I still have posts that do very well when they are topical and engaging.
